Hey All,

Just going to start of by stating some things lol;

- Have XT926 (Hence why I'm posting here.. :p )

- Boot Loader is Unlocked
- I'm running Kitkat 4.4.2

The Story

Alright, so spent about 16 or so hrs on this yesterday with crushing defeat...

So I unlocked my boot loader at about 9 AM Yesterday, thanks to

After I found that, I was like "Cool, I can actually do $#!+ now".

So I proceeded to flashboot TWRP onto my phone, again "Awsome it worked, now lets whipe my phone  install a rom"

I threw CM 10.2.1 onto a sd card and tried to install it, it acts like it installs and asks to reboot, that's when the first struggle starts... the phone boot loops.

So I try doing it again, maybe it iddn't take, again boot loop.

I Try CM 11, again boot loop.

I try flashbooting another one, (Can't remember what the term for these roms are call, "Recovery roms?") Then try them again.. Still boot loop.

I try this and many combinations of Roms, Flashing, ect.

I tried using flashback in there as well.

I Even tried to get my phone back to the JB verson before Kitkat, because atleast on that I could use my WIFI teather, and that also didn't work, but that didn't work for a different reason;

The Partition size was to small for some of the partitions it was trying to flash to.

Of course I didn't have a backup of my phone, so I eventually at about 3am was able to get the kitkat version full download and reload it back on the phone.

Side note... My phone was the only source of internet for a while there, so untill later on that night, when I finally got internet I had a buddy sitting next to me dling anything we could find to get it to work again...

TLDR;

What I'm trying to do;
-Wifi Teathering

I've got the origional OS ROM for the phone now So I'm willing to try anything...

PS: I'll donate 100$ to the site if I can get Wifi Teathering back on my phone.

Thanks for your help to anyone in advanced!

You don't need to use a custom rom to remove the Mobile Hotspot subscription pay screen, if that's what you are talking about. You just replace the stock hotspot apk with a modified one.

If you have the kitkat bootloader, which I think you do since you are on 4.4.2, CM 10.2.1 will definitely not work for you. CM11 nightly builds after the M8 snapshot will work though, but with various bugs.

Thanks for the response, So First one Bricked my phone (If I'm using that term right), In processing of reinstalling my OS now lol.

Second one is a nogo, as it seems like it's doing something but ends up not doing anything.

I Tried CM11, and that didn't work either, just gives me reloading boot Icon. (By Kitkat bootloader, do you mean RSD Lite?)

And I'm unfamiliar how to do what you're saying about removing the apk.

I think bricked is a term used for a device that has permanently become one, and you probably did that before you followed what he linked.

That's to be expected. I don't think you are quite ready to be manually replacing an .apk. The good news is you are unlocked, so there's only a limited few ways that you can permanently destroy your phone now. I don't know these ways, since I try to fully understand everything leading up to what I want.

It appears that you need to do a clean install of the stock OS. First thing I would do is follow the instructions here:

I would then google "CM11" and "XT926" and read some of the very long thread on XDA Developers in regards to the progress of CM11 for our phone. If you want CM11, go to the cyanogenmod website, find your device, and follow the instructions there. If I were you, I would take some time to read some of the other sections of

. You will find stickied threads and other bits of information that will tremendously increase your understanding. You definitely need that foundation due to the existence of XT925/6 and the way Motorola has handled some of the development for our device.

Keep reading if you want to stick to the stock OS:

Once you are ready (and I can't stress this enough, don't do this until you fully understand what you are doing) follow this to remove the pay screen:

That said, the thread linked in the last sentence has lots of questions and comments that should help you along as well.

Here's my disclaimer: I am not a developer, but I was in your shoes not too long ago. I am only pointing you in the direction that I went. My advice could be slightly inaccurate, totally off, spot on or some variation of that. As you should know, everything you do is at your own risk. I am not responsible if your phone catches fire, starts bouncing or never works the way you like it again.

On CM 11 downloads, the xt926 is now listed as a unified build.. So look for moto_msm8960. The nightlies after the last stable (m8 I believe), are the only cm11 Roms that work on the xt926/with the updated KK 3.4 boot loader. All others will not boot. So before you install first look in cm11/downloads, then look for moto_msm8960.. Then the latest nightly should work. Just be aware there are bugs such as speakerphone volume during calls.. I believe the Bluetooth issue has been remedies by Paval, or at least that's what I saw dhacker29 post on twitter. Hope this helps.

You're first mistake was flashing CM10. As others have stated, that is for JB kernels.

You then, from what I could tell, proceeded to just flash CM11 ontop of CM10. That again was probably a mistake, but I could wrong. You definitely need to go back, obtain the KK FXZ and using House of Moto (in the House of Moto forum on this site) or RSDLite (using SamuriHK's RSD Script generator which is also available in the House of Moto forum on this site) and flash back to stock Kit Kat. Then, put TWRP back on, grab the unified CM11 image (and a corresponding GAPPs package) and then flash them to your phone.

Also, you need to do the following when flashing CM11:

  1. Wipe/format data, cache, dalvik cache and system.
  2. Flash CM11
  3. Flash GAPPS
  4. Wipe cache/dalvik cache
  5. Reboot and profit

The first boot may take awhile as it rebuilds the Dalvik cache, so give it time. Some people have reported it taking up to 15 minutes, but I've never experienced that. A couple of minutes is what it does for me.

Good luck!

That's weird that CM11's tethering hotspot didn't work for you. Works out of the box for me. Now, I couldn't get Xtether to work for me, so go figure that one out! :)

Glad you got it working though. CM11 is great.

If you are unlocked, just flash root in custom recovery. If you are not unlocked, you are out of luck.
