I've got a Droid Razr Maxx HD (XT926) that started going into an endless boot after uninstalling Google Chrome - Beta.

I've read a bunch of forums and watched a few vids and I'm just about ready to throw in the towel.

Verizon store is absolutely no help. Because my screen has a crack, they won't even deal with me.

I've followed the steps to get to the recovery screen.

When I get to the recovery screeen with the Android guy on his back, I can't get past there, despite simultaneously pressing and holding the Volume up and down keys. I've tried countless times.

Anyone else get to this point and find a way to get it to work?

Thanks for any tips!!!!!!!!

Hold volume down and tap volume up should do it.

Thanks for the replay.

Unfortunately, that has no effect.

Think I'm screwed?

Hold a sec!

In an act of desparation, I keep pushing the power and volume buttons randomly.

I managed to get into the reboot options. I selected the factory reset and reboot.

Phone is powered off. Still waiting for it to reboot. Not sure if this worked. Fingers crossed.

The button combination is actually vol up&down then pwr....

Anyway, you should probably just flash the fxz for the version you were on or newer.

Thanks for the help. I'm making some progress, but not quite there yet.

I managed to find the fxz for my version (kda20.62-15.1)

I used RSD Lite to run the file and I get this message:

Failed flashing process. 1/17 flash partition "gpt.bin" -> Phone returned fail

My phone is displaying:

AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
10.9B(*)(sha-61146a2,2014-07-29 08:54:49)

eMC Info: Siz 32GB

Device is LOCKED, Status Code: 0
Battery OK

Transfer Mode: USB Connected

Fast boot Reason: Boot menu selected
usb connected

Any other recommendations? Thanks again!

What shows up when in Device Manager when you connect your phone? Does your phone show up when you're in fastboot, and type "devices?" Though, I have little doubt these things have anything to do with the initial problem, I'm still curious.

Thanks man. I think I'm over my head here.

I read through a bunch of the stuff in the link you posted, and even managed to download the recommended items.

However, I can't even get past the first step:

Install

from the playstore

My phone is not operational, so I obviously I can't install an app.

I've been reading and learning as much as I can since finding this very cool forum.

From what I read in this thread by Goddamit, according to

... there is no solution to the partition problem I also am running into:

"Failed flashing process. 1/17 flash partition "gpt.bin" -> Phone returned fail"

The GPT partition issue can be a couple of things, so don't let that stop you from trying.

Don't start with the root, you need to start with the link over to flashing the appropriate firmware that is listed up front.

Thanks for the help. At the very least, I'm learning a lot as I go through this process.

I was able to follow the steps in the link.

I was able to download the XT926 FXZ, the RSD Flasher (retaining it as a .jar file) and RSD Lite and flash with both.

I'm getting a slightly different message with RSD Lite (grab below). Maybe that's at least some progress?

The RSD Flasher ran quickly and closed RSD lite quickly, but I could see it display this error:

Failed flashing process. 1/17 flash partition "gpt.bin"

Using RSD Flasher, try using the "Universal" xml script.

Thanks for the help.

By "universal" do you mean this file that was in the FXZ zip?

VZW_XT926_4.4.2-KDA20.62-15.1_1FF

That's what I've been pointing to with the RSD flasher.

Or, do you mean another file?

I'm obviously a noob here, but I'm learning and trying.

Thanks again!

Below is what I see within the VZW_XT907_4.4.2-KDA20.62-10.1_CFC_1FF.xml zip that I downloaded.

I don't see the Universal XML. Maybe I grabbed the wrong zip, or am totally off base? Thanks.

First off like John said, that's the wrong file, don't flash it.

Second, there should be a universal script generated when you use Sam's RSD flasher. That XML should have generated in whatever folder you set up the flasher in.
