Tried to use all the suggested workarounds for fixing Tether and nothing works, is (no ripoff) double pay Tethering a thing of the past ? I use to love the app but it doesn't work no matter what I do. I had seen a suggestion about re configuring a sys file but no longer seem to be able to locate the instruction, any help ?  plz ?

You still need root to make the change initially but I've never personally tried it. I would assume that once you've done the change and unroot it should still work. You only needed root to modify the entry. The system is just reading the entry.

I agree it should as you are using the stock tether and it would have no reason to check for root.
