NO Moto X+1 Developer Edition for VZW

Some bad news on the Moto X+1 came out last night through Google+ from none other than Punit Soni. When a post was made asking him if there would be a Dev Edition of the Moto X+1, the answer receive was a shocking and disappointing one. Punit Soni responded to the question quickly by saying "unfortunately no".
There was no further explanation made by Punit and the only other response he made in the post was asking if everyone participating was on VZW.
With the success of the Moto X this is a shocking turn. I'm not sure how many Dev Ed Moto X devices were sold for Verizon but I would have imagined that even more would have been sold for this time around now that people have a taste of what this device brings.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you care that no Dev Ed will be available?

I'd like this, but, NO. Just NO. Screw you, VZW. So glad I'm on a different network.

I only liked the fact that it looks like DR is the only one reporting this.. First!

Admit it, you liked it cause you didn't want to see a new Moto X DE. You secretly love the Samsung DE devices. ZING! Twice in one day!!

As I had already decided to leave Verizon and have already started the process, making my mom and step-dad get their own contracts and looking into how to transfer mine and my wife's numbers without canceling our unlimited plans and then selling them on eBay, not having a Dev on Verizon isn't that big of a deal but I still think this is total BS on Verizon's part.

It wouldn't matter anyway. No root. So even if you had safestrap, you'd have no way of using it. Without unlocking, Moto devices are now write protected so root is much more difficult. This is what a few of us have been saying would happen for a long time, and we were criticized and dismissed as naysayers and pessimists. It's not that it can't be done, it's that the barriers to doing it are getting harder and harder each round. As such, there's not a lot of motivated and talented people out there working on it. If you care about root and/or roms, a Moto X 2014 on VZW is NOT the phone for you.

I was looking forward to this phone but because I'm on Verizon it's gonna be a no go. No dev edition doesn't surprise me at all with them. Unfortunately I can't leave them because I'm a truck driver and no one has the coverage that they do. If you're on Verizon you might as well go with an iPhone since it's just like anything else there you're stuck with what you're stuck with. Safestrap is being discontinued by hashcode so pretty soon we won't have that either unless someone picks up where he left off.
There's a Dev Edition S5 on Verizon.

I was just saying. If you wanted an unlocked device on Verizon that's probably the only choice.

I know, just world be my last choice. Their method of unlocking its the pits. Ask any S4 dev owner. Its very easy to turn your dev edition into a consumer with no return. They have admitted it was flawed but kept with the same routine in the S5.sent from my G3
I'd go back to my Bionic before going back to a Sammy...especially a Dev edition. They seem to not understand that those need updates as well instead of making 10 damned variations of the same basic device.

I would have been surprised if they would have let a new developers edition anything on Verizon. I'm still on Verizon for unlimited data and fortunately for me I was able to make my own Developer edition thanks to all the hard work others have done on the M8. Hopefully it will last for a while but not holding my breath...

they've thus far maintained a DE device on their network since they've started locking them down. If the new droid line does not have one, this will be the first series without.

I guess VZW just felt the need to play nice with Google, now that Motorola has been sold to Lenovo, not so much.........
