Andy Rubin, the man known for co-founding our beloved Android operating system, officially departed from Google today. The departure was announced by Google's Larry Page. Rubin departed from the Android OS team in March of 2013 but did not announce plans to leave the company.
Page said, "I want to wish Andy all the best with what's next. With Android he created something truly remarkable with a billion-plus happy users. Thank you."
Rubin is said to be "starting an incubator for startups interested in building technology-hardware products." It is said that James Kuffner is taking over the robotics at Google. Kuffner is a research scientist with Google and a professor at Carnegie Mellon University.
Anyone surprised? I didn't see this coming completely but wish him all the luck in his future projects.
