I installed rom manager but it cannot do a system backup so I was wondering what else it can do that is useful on the razr?
At this point, just about nothing. It is primarily intended for devices with unlocked bootloaders.

Have the option to tell it what recovery version you're on and can now backup.
Didn't work for me on axiom aokp ab10.
Anyone on 173 get it to backup?

Yeah there really is no use for it at all, especially when we already have tools that are better.
What tool is better and as reliable as ROM manager was?

You can use bootstrap if you don't mind having to rsd if something goes wrong or you can use safe strap which allows you to protect your stock rom and flash safely. I recommend the latter.

Yep still true, but you can back up from rom manager itself now as well. It has an entry for the RAZR even though there's still no complete support.

What is missing? Can rom manager make a nandroid full system backup and restore now reliably?

However every backup I try to make from ROM Manager always fails. Not sure why.

EDIT; had to make sure i'm not lying
started on axiom ab15, installed dianxin and created backup, then restored ab15 successfully. to find the backup i had to go to the settings and check the ext sd option before it showed up.
**wait nevermind i restored gummy. i cant find the ab15 backup, well it worked for 1 backup anyway. ill try again tomorrow >.<
