Saw this over at XDA and it was easier for me than the method here. Anyways here's an alternative with the files attached. Original thread at http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=2214495

How to root the phone:

Run Poot. When it first runs it will say it has to install a program it gets from the market called Ministro. Just download and install it. Then re-run Poot.

It will then say it needs to download binaries, let it download and install them

When it finally gets to the main Poot screen, press the button at the top that says: Press here to poot.

It may give you an error in the log, it did to me but still worked. Now REBOOT your phone.

Once booted, install Superuser from playstore

The playstore ministro seems to be broken so I included it in the zip as well.

I know this is a "old" phone but I just picked one up yesterday to play with. It's pretty nice and this place was where I saw the first root method but I found poot after more googling.

Nice find. I've had this phone put away for about 9 months and just pulled it out of the drawer today to figure out if i could get it back to stock after softbricking (be careful what you delete when debloating). anyways i went back to stock from another thread in this forum and decided to give this method a shot for root and can confirm it is simple and it does work.

This is the method I used, and it was sooo easy. What was written here didn't work for me, but Poot sure did. Found it to be MUCH easier flashing to ICS, after this method, as well.
