Hello fellow modders and hackers. I love that this site was able to help me root my DROID RAZR M. To bad I have to hope that moto left a gap in the KitKat update in order to unlock.

I'm kind of excited to be here...I've had my Razr M for a little over a year. The M, is my first ever Android. (I know, it's kind of depressing looking back. I chose the M in all honesty because it was $50 when I upgraded with VZW. I'm "Ballin' on a budget"! I just rooted 3 days ago. I figured baby steps were best in the infinite world of ultimate control and customization. So I wanted to make sure I was familiar with Android and the basics before I broke the chains. BTW, the M is a fantastic phone to me, It had me hooked on Android from day 1. I can't wait to get my hands on a true Android device, but I'll never forget my first! I'm excellent at following instructions, so when I found this forum, I had arrived. I am eager to became a power user and really get into it. Sorry for the long intro. Last thing, as I said I'm new but cautious, I don't want to go dumping every recommendation into my device so my first question is this... Is there a Starter Thread, that might include the foundation apps/apks/ROM for being a root user? I realize the sheer plethora of mods are hard to sort and filter but how about an "I want to be a Root Master" thread? Basically I'm looking for the Yoda of root...Take me to your leader!

The best advice is just to read read read. As for Roms, on the M you are going to be very limited unless you have an unlocked bootloader. Depending in what system version you are on, that may still be possible. But, if you've been taking the ota updates as they've come then unfortunately that opportunity has passed and your only option will be something known as safestrap for Roms. Any way, happy hunting! Hey guys my name is Chekhov and am from Chelyabinsk Chebarkul Russia and currently reside in the U.S. And I have a Motorola Droid Razr XT912 and was Rooted on 4.1.2 and had Safe Strap Installed and dual booted with 4.4 KitKat. I saw that there was a update for 4.1.2 and (being stupid) updated it and got rid of root access and deleted the 4.4 Partition. Ive tried Rootme_3.0 and it failed. Ive also tried CydiaImpactor and it failed :/ Please PM or reply to this and redirect me if need be. I'm new so Thanks in advance for any help

 

Edit:1: I do and can access to SafeStrap through my boot up meny thing Hold down both VOL keys and power. And I tried to install a kit Kat 4.4 Build for it and it failed. Thanks in advance

Okay uhh..Slight Problem. I installed SafeStrap again rebooted my phone..an well I think it bricked it or something because When I turn on the phone it wont do anything. I cant go to stock recovery for obvious reasons and when I do BP Bootup it normally took me to the safestrap installed and now it just reboots itself :/ Is there ANY fix to this? It's going to suck cause I don't get my Moto G until a couple weeks 

I would FXZ back and start over.

Is it possible for you to walk me through that (like just put what all I have to do in steps) That would be awesome I have no idea what FXZ is

Okay I looked up what FXZ is and I have RSD LIte downloaded and installed but its talking about a Bionic droid and I have a Moto Droid Razr XT912 Spyder

 

Edit: Okay Im going to keep my phone in AP FastBoot until further instruction

Just a quick question. Is it because my batterys low that it wont be detected on RSD lite? It's running 6.1.4

Yes. If it shows low battery in fastboot you have to get it charged. Factory cable or team black hat adapter

So its not gunna charge with the USB cable in my PC?
