maxx hd xt926 4.1.2 JB. the root checker and connectbot app confirm the root and the SU app is installed. I am trying to install

because as I understand it, that will allow me to get into the more serious customizations that I want to do. I have learned that in order to do so, I have to unlock the bootloader and flash the recovery. Both of these things I have been working at extrenuously to no avail. I downloaded and ran Matts Utility with no success, my phone still says locked on the boot screen. I have tried several other methods as well. I am sure that I have not provided valuable info to give a good picture of what needs to be done, but I am home all day and can provide any info needed to anyone that is willing to help me out. what is the best forum to address this issue in?

version 9.16.6xt926

You found the correct forum, you just now need to do some reading in here....whether you can unlock the bootloader depends on what specific version you have, and that info can be found in Settings - About Phone. Post a screen shot is easiest or post the info back in here.

also post the build number md......

I think as long as you havent taken the .20 update you can still unlock, but not 100% sure.

I need to learn the HD a little better. :)

So first be careful with YouTube videos...we've seen some way bad ones.

Since I dont want to give you bad advice, you should wait for one of the others to respond...which of Matts utilities did you use?
