i can not take this update i tried sbfing and it did started fresh rooted then the update still failed i want the update the error i get is assert failed: apply_patch_check("EMMC:boot:10485760:2aae3a971897fe5aa123a5f45efbf94141afe8ba:10485760:29cac9eeae1e57ea08c4666ab745621a6a02eda2")

the only thing that is differnt is thet before i was on 9.18.79 now im on 9.20.1 i would really appreciate some help

Your boot image doesn't match what the update is looking for. 20.1 and 79 are exactly the same.  One shows up when not rooted, the other shows when rooted.  That's the difference.  30.1 does the same thing.

Flash the boot image from the FXZ.

Yea, well, your phone doesn't think so. Else it'd not be complaining that the boot partition doesn't match the signature it's looking for.  So either FXZ again or simply use fastboot and flash the boot.img file from it:

fastboot flash boot boot.img

I am going to try to get the update for my mother tonight or tomorrow - when I can make it by to see her. She has the XT926 unlocked/rooted using the latest TWRP, running stock VZW 9.20.1.XT926.Verizon.en.US -- Baseband version VANQUISH_BP_100730.160.64.15P -- Build number 9.8.1Q-79-1  ---  I think I just need to restore orig. recovery - then take the update,  does that sound right?  I do not recall how to restore orig recovery if that is the case...  I have told her to not install so she has been putting it off..  But I was hoping to get confirmation here first..     thanks

Yeah. Pull the stock recovery from that fastboot file and flash in Fastboot mode.

Thanks livinginkaos - will try that here in a bit...

EDIT***

Worked great!  - everything is updated...   only bad buzz was I had to install TWRP v2.5.0.0 - of all times for goo.im server to be down... could not grab TWRP 2.6.3.0...  updated to SuperSu v1.69 - she should be in good shape for a bit...   thanks again..

Yay - goo.im is back taking care of the TWRP now...

.94 and .1 are the same, just different version numbers.

The version is based off of the previous version you were on.  The last update happened as a soak test and then an official OTA.  The version will be different depending on whether you got the soak or the full OTA.
