I am on the latest update before this kitkat ota came out. im completely locked down so there is no point in me staying on 4.1

If you're completely locked down and completely stock, then the OTA might actually work for you.  People that are modified seem to be having the issues.

As Sam mentioned though, if you rooted with saferoot, you'll have issues.

That was not a very useful description.  9.30.1 and 9.18.4 are both "the latest update before this kitkat ota came out".  See the problem?

If we can get the FXZ I have an idea of how locked users can keep root, but, they must never take the OTA.  Once they do, I can't help them anymore.  The idea I have is what they did on the S4, and I hope to get some help with it.  Basically it's this:

o) Make sure you're rooted, stock 9.30.1

o) Install SafeStrap

o) Boot into SafeStrap, flash a script that updates the system partition with the stuff from KK, keeping root in the process

o) Immediately boot into AP Fastboot

o) Run an RSD script that flashes all partitions EXCEPT: system, GPT, and TZ and obviously keep data

That's the theory.  But we need the FXZ to test whether you can flash certain partitions from KK, then flash back to 9.30.1 using my UNIVERSAL script for both.  If that works, then we should be able to pull this off.

For those that don't want/need the full House of Moto, I've created a small RSD Script Generator that will quickly generate RSD scripts for FULL, KEEP DATA, and UNIVERSAL (does not flash TZ and GPT partitions in addition to keeping data). Flash the script you want with RSD.

So is this for the FXZ or OTA/soak? Based on the work you guys put in, I'm assuming the FXZ? I also cannot wait to update to KK, and my phone won't allow me to take the OTA...my System Updates settings link is broken.

CURRENT DEVICES: Nexus 7 (2013) - Stock 4.4, Rooted, TWRP, Unlocked bootloader / RAZR Maxx HD - Stock, locked, 4.4.2
PREVIOUS DEVICES - In order: RAZR M - Stock and rooted, with broken radio allowing for T-Mo and AT&T SIM Cards / Galaxy Nexus - Stock [RIP - Victim of the random reboot bug] / Galaxy Stratosphere - Stock

No need to assume. What's needed is to read.
