Hey all... hoping you can help as usual because XDA is completely not helpful.  Trying to root using RockMyMoto (http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=2513571) but getting stuck at this step:

Run the exploit through telnet

Quote:
dalvikvm -cp /sdcard/RockMyMoto.jar RockMyMoto

Here's a screenshot of what happens:

 Attached File  Screen_Shot_2013-11-10_at_3.24.54_PM (1).png   20.36KB   82 downloads

Does anyone have any advice here?  I'm so lost on what to do from here.  I've tried redownloading the jar file thinking it was corrupt but nothing works.  Thanks in advance!

This is just a suggestion, but if you are new to adb and telnet/cmd maybe you should go back and read about the java runtime environment and other java requirements that apply to using adb. I'm not a whiz at cmd use by any means, but I spent a healthy amount of time learning about installing (using) sdk/adb and the necessary java elements to operate it. I'm not trying to second guess your experience level, but as many of the members here say, '' read, read, and re-read''. Like many I was intent on rooting my X but skeptical of my abilities to the extent of reading for several hours over the span of several days in order to get it right. In that process, I came away slightly more enlightened of the processes and way more appreciative of the effort others put into providing exploits and mods. I hope the complexity of current rooting methods will cause people who really value 'root' to invest their time into the learning process. My reply was not meant as an evaluation of yours (or anyone's) abilities or commitment, just a comment on why we should all put more into the effort. Thanks to ALL the dedicated Android lovers out there, I was among the Bionic community and seeing the diligence and effort was something to behold. Android Rocks !

Not to insult you either, but I do read.  I own a website dealing with development and preach this daily to members.  My problem is, I read, have all the required software and such, can easily follow instructions and type commands and have a pretty good grasp of cmd.

When I run a command in command prompt as far as I'm understanding, I pushed the .jar to the phone and using telnet with command prompt this jar file should run on the phone then.  It seems though that the "RockMyMoto" class within the jar file is not being "found".  A "class" I'm guessing here is kind of like a command within a file and that file being the jar file.  No, I have no clue anything related to java nor do I have the desire to.  This file was made and has instructions that I followed and got an unexpected result that nobody else seems to have gotten before.

Now, I apologize if that was gruff but I came for help and not to be lightly "told" to just go read some more.  I read daily and learn many different devices that I don't even own.  So, thank you for the suggestion but all I really would like is why I'm getting this unexpected result.

Thanks.  Does the screenshot up above give you any ideas?  It finds the .jar file but not the RockMyMoto part within it from what I understand.  This is my brother's phone so don't currently have it but really no point because I always get that message

Okay, hopefully yall can show me what i need to do before i actually do it.

1. download cydia impactor and android debug bridge. find out what the IP address of my phone is, which i can do via my router.Currently my phone got over the air update at 4.2.2,

2. unzip rockmymoto and run the exploit.

3. run impactor on my computer and select the start telnetd system. and when it is done run telnet (somehow).

4. run the exploit through telnet with (phone IP 2222.

5. Will input dalvikvm command code and will tell me to use ADB to reboot which i will do.

6. run dalvikvm command code a second time to reboot.

7. run the dalvikvm command code again the 3rd time through telnet and then wait for SU to install.

8. when it is done, i am done.

Aye?

I finally got mine.  Everytime phone reboots remember to run the exploit through Cydia Impactor and restart telnet each time as well.
