Encryption unsuccessful on XT910 running JB 4.1.2

Best Answer davimin , 15 December 2013 - 08:31 PM

The site came back up and could not find an AU version but found the EU version.

So I used this to Fastboot using RSD Lite and my XT910 is all good now.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Will read more about safestrap and how to flash Pac-man ROM before I do anything.

Hi everyone

I'm a noob but have rooted my RAZR xt910 when it was on Gingerbread.

My Razr xt910 is now on Jelly Bean running 982.124.14XT910.Retail.en.AU.

I've rooted my phone but now I've bricked it using CWM Touch using this thread:
forum.xda-developers.com+showthread.php?t=1751826
I got as far as step 6. "Click on "Backup and restore" and "backup" to create your backup android" then the phone rebooted and came up with the Encryption unsuccessful message.

I've searched through a whole heap of threads and forums trying to get an answer but each thread talks about a different method. I thing I do know and that is not to try ICS fastboot files.

The Batman Utility appears to be the answer but I am still unsure if it willl work and how to use it.

Can anyone please help as I need my phone or am I screwed.

Davimin

The utility is for the 912 on Verizon ONLY........ you will need to get the proper FXZ file from

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

and use RSDlite or sam's House of Moto to return to stock...... however; the sbf developers site is apparently down at the time being .... so you will have to wait till the site is back up to get the file......

Two things in addition.  First, the site may not return until after the new year.  The problem with the site is very serious.  Second, you will likely need to wipe the data as that encryption error corrupts the data partition. So you will lose everything that was on it.

Thanks, I suppose no one has the files and instructions to fastboot...and I do realise that all data will be wiped.

BTW do I need the exact AU retail file for JB4.1.2 or can I use another region's firmware so as long as its JB4.1.2.

Google did not find any 982.124.14XT910.Retail.en.AU files.

I rooted my phone and was going to install Pacman ROM.

I would say you would need the exact firmware for your specific phone/region.... otherwise it will fail.....

I would say it should probably work to get you up and running .... but when the site comes back up... grab the full "original" file as well...:) ..... and piece of advice.... don't use cwm touch :) ..... we have seen it not play very nice with the xt 910 and the xt 912.....

Understand that the only thing that works ICS+ is safestrap. All the old bootstrap recoveries only work in GB.

I'm having difficulties trying to boot into recovery mode using vol+, vol- & power button at the same time. I did it before but now it goes straight into the "Encryption unsuccessful" message. I haven't started the recovery process yet.

Also the zip file I downloaded here

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

doesn't contain a fastboot xml file so I don't know if RSD Lite will work.

Any suggestions?

I'm having difficulties trying to boot into recovery mode using vol+, vol- & power button at the same time.

I spoke nicely to my RAZR and it booted into recovery mode.

I selected recovery mode and it showed the dead android logo.

I tried AP Fastboot, shows device is locked.

Do I then use RSD Lite and select the zip file I've just downloaded even though it doesn't contain the fasboot xml file? and choose decompress and install?

Thanks, I tried it but It doesn't work with RSD Lite.

Message: "Please check input file. Either XML format is wrong or image files associated with it is missing".

The model appearing in RSD Lite shows "Fastboot CDMA_SPYDER S" but Australia does not have a CDMA network just GSM.

Should I try it Sam's House of Moto?

EDIT: I can't close RSD Lite as it tells me the application is busy and it may damage the device....do I close it? Nothing seems to be happening on the phone still showing AP Fastmode screen.

WHY do you think that flashing something that ISN'T MADE for your phone is going to work?  You're running the risk of PERMANENTLY bricking your phone.  No, House of Moto is not going to do ANYTHING to help you here.

The site came back up and could not find an AU version but found the EU version.

So I used this to Fastboot using RSD Lite and my XT910 is all good now.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Will read more about safestrap and how to flash Pac-man ROM before I do anything.
