I do not want to side load kit Kat. I have a droid maxx completely stock. The only thing I have done to it is enable developer options so I could have access to USB debugging. Could enabling that cause me not to get the ota ??

I thought by now I should have received the ota but nothing yet even when I check for updates...

The original RAZR MAXX?? XT912? I didn't think it was on the list to receive official K.K. I have the same device and running "Slimbean" ROM which runs excellent but wouldn't mind reverting back to stock to see what the official KK is like. If you have links where it says we're getting KK or leaked download files for the "OFFICIAL" one that would be cool. All I could find is KK based ROMS ported over to the XT912, which obviously isn't official.

No. This is the Droid Ultra/Maxx section.

KK started rolling out. Dec 19  There is a chance it hasn't pushed to you yet.

USB debugging would not prevent OTA

AHH... Sorry, my bad. Saw the thread on the main page in the latest discussions part and got a little excited, and jumped the gun.

From reports I have seen, the push may be on standby right now due to numerous devices being bricked from the update. These devices were claimed to have been never altered from stock in any way. I can't say that this is for sure the case but I do know there are a few little bugs with kit Kat that are annoying. Wallpapers set from gallery do not center properly, sometimes are completely distorted all together. Notification bar icons seem to be off for some. All in all I would say you aren't missing anything yet.

I never received an update notification for either of the Maxx's I have. Any particular reason you don't want to sideload? Its super easy to put the update.zip in your internal storage and flash with stock recovery.

Too many sets of instructions, some people bricked, some people's mics don't work and I have a gut feeling this ota was pulled because of bugs. And like I said before I think this ota was pulled and maybe another will be released. I don't want to brick a week old phone...

I normally would be too hesitant about side loading a update. But there just seems to be too many questions and unknowns about this one.

If its true that the OTA soak was really causing bricks which is why its been put on hold, then the risk to me just wouldn't be worth it. Yea its the newest Android version but honestly its not that big of a change. At least that's the way it seems right now. We aren't getting the white notification bar icons or anything like that. If you didn't know any better, you would think you were still on JB since it really does look the same on the surface.

There's one in the XDA forums. I side loaded the update on two phones. My dev edition and the fiancees consumer phone and both updated without a flaw. IMHO a majority of the issues are people trying to apply the update and keep root as well. The process isn't as easy as the one click methods we were all used to.

I was wondering how many people that bricked during the soak were rooted or have tinkered with something. I was in the soak but had no access to the private forums because there were so many people participating (according to the email). So I didn't get to see the complaints and situations. All the things I have seen on kit Kat are minor UI issues.

My guess is that even people who were not rooted and used the stock disable option for some of the bloatware not thinking it would effect the OTA are the ones having the problems. I bought this phone knowing it was on the 4.4 update list and was going to disable some of the bloat but when I got the warning that disabling may make other apps misbehave I opted out to wait for the OTA.

Sounds like that may have been a good thing in the short term. There were quite a few bricks on this update for this device, hence why they pulled it.
