I always liked SS on my devices. Any reasons not to use SS on an unlocked RHD? I'm heading back to carbonrom if it is SS compatible (what I'm currently trying to determine).

The only real drawback to SS is the amount of space it takes up.  If you're unlocked you can flash the system partition and not take up space on your internal memory for a rom slot.  But if you're happy with the solution, there's no reason to change it even on an unlocked device.

I just got burned a while back when my twrp backups (including stock!), went up in smoke with my SD card! On SS, they were still loaded and not active. Also if I want to try a few Roms out, it is much easier in SS with the slots. With that being said, I happily unlocked when I had the chancec:D Sent from my Red Swingline Stapler

No doubt. I think this will extend the life of these devices.

Definitely.  But will people learn when the KitKat build is released in a few months?  Will people remember how LUCKY this exploit find was?  I mean, the chances of another existing exploit working on KitKat isn't impossible, but, it's not super likely, either.

I highly doubt people will read and heed.  They're going to be super excited about Kit-Kat and won't pay any attention to the fact that they will lose root.

Then we'll have another dozen "boo hoo I can't root" threads.  It gets to a point where it becomes hard to be sympathetic when people make the same mistakes over and over again.  I'm glad these new builds have root, but, people need to really grasp just how lucky it was that it worked.

No need for Samsung drivers. Just need to be sure to have proper drivers to establish adb connection, but yeah, easy peasy. Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk

One of the others stated that they HAD to install the Sammie drivers even though they had the Moto drivers already installed.

Interesting. Well, no harm no foul I guess. It might be prudent to modify the bat file and remove the unnecessary Knox components and package it as a moto version..... With the approval of the originator of course.

Yeah that was me, I tried a couple other roots before this requiring the driver download.  And this only worked once I downloaded the sammie ones.

Then we'll have another dozen "boo hoo I can't root" threads.  It gets to a point where it becomes hard to be sympathetic when people make the same mistakes over and over again.  I'm glad these new builds have root, but, people need to really grasp just how lucky it was that it worked.

I see where your coming from but a lot of people don't pay attention or even know the power of these phones on root.  Heck I just discovered how awesome custom Rom's are yesterday and I was on root for 4 years before my HD.  How do you know to become educated if you didn't know you had an interest in the first place?  The biggest thing is most just root then forget.  I learned during my first root not to update with out checking what it does.  There needs to be some really good Root 101 articles produced out there.  Obviously how do you do that when mainstream media is controlled by the people who don't want you doing it.  People only educate themselves on these phones when they find they have a further interest.

And isn't trying to discover the secret 90% of the fun to this forum and android forums alike?

I will add this I won't be updating I don't care how cool the new kitkat or whatever is unless there are known root methods available.  Blurry sidestrapped is keeping me entertained for now.
