No you're going to want to choose the Fastboot option. (I think its option 1).

When the phone's on. Hold down Volume Down + Power for about 10 seconds, when the screen
off, let go of the power button and keep holding the volume down button. AP Fastboot should appear Found it Thanks
Yep that's it. If you should brick and can't get in to your device, holding all 3 physical buttons while the device is off works too.

I am in ap fastboot when I tell my computer to run the fastboot restore its says moto is not recognized as an internal or external.........
Sounds like you didn't extract the .zip completely, try it again.
None of the utilities have ever given me problems, so I can't help you if that didn't work. Go ask around the Utility threads.

Do you have your phone set to USB debugging mode. And you do not extract the zip file just place the file on the root of your ext SD card meaning just place the file to the external SD card not in a folder.

Scratch what I said above. Your trying to go back to .211. If so make sure your in USB debugging mode and that your phone says ready to program I believe if fast boot mode.

Well his phone is in Fastboot mode so it doesn't matter if usb debugging is on or not, cause his phone isn't on.

After everything loaded I tried to decompress the files and flash it. It fails at step ll/16 flash system system img fail.
Battery is low so I'm recharging it hope thats all it is. I seem to be stuck in the ap fastboot mode now with messages saying flash failed.
When i try and return to regular mode it just keeps going back to apfastboot.
Not sure I'm cut out for this, not having much luck

Don't give up for another round. Be sure you have a full charge before flashing again.

Doesn't matter what mode your cell is in when fastbooting. AP fastboot doesn't care cause it's in a state all by itself.

hopefully I can get my phone to charge up and try the utility. Guess this may have been out of my scope or technical ability.

I would put myself down like that, just remember in the future if you're gonna be doing anything involving flashing, don't get into it without having at LEAST 60% batter. Some say 70%. Because if you go below the threshold, the phone won't let you flash and if you have no system to boot into, you won't be able to charge up either.
Having enough battery is Step 1 whenever you do anything with your phone.
