Just in case you missed this:

I admit I am disappointed how difficult is to watch a video I've recorded on the phone on my TV.  No HDMI port and the native photos/gallery doesn't cast.  It would seem like a no-brainer to have Google's own photo app be a standard feature in Chromecast, unless I'm missing an obvious step in the process?

There are a few workarounds depending on hardware. If your TV or home theater has dnla ability, you can pull the video. Depending on your phone, you can use either a slim port or mhl cable to get HDMI. Of your TV is connected to your computer, you can pull through a network connection (or dnla that way as well)

I tried a chromecast for a week and then bought an android stick PC. Far more functional for the money.

Now that Google has released the SDK, it's usability is starting to explode.  I felt the same way before that though.

That's good to know. I'll hang on to mine for a while and see what comes.

The Plex app updated which is supposed to support photos/videos on device to cast, I haven't had the chance to try myself.  If Plex doesn't work, I'll get a slim port cable. I don't believe my tv has dnla, couldn't make that option Kaos recommended work.  It just seems so odd to me that a native app to the phone wouldn't have seamless integration with Chromecast.

Koush's AllCast app works well with photos, videos stutter a bit, that may be adjustable in settings. Easy to use and no subscription necessary as with Plex. Still hoping Google integrates CC within their own photo/video applications.

Thanks for the heads up! Definitely a downfall that I can't cast my own vids. Sent from my Red Swingline Stapler
