I'm having some trouble updating OTA. I was on LOCKED, rooted 98.18.78. I uninstalled Facebook from system because the app stopped working (normal uninstall/reinstall would not fix the issue... root deleted, reinstalled. Worked then). I removed any root apps, and used SuperSU to do a full unroot. I then did a full factory reset. Still giving an error. The update downloads, boots, and then mid-way through it fails (dead android logo). I went to recovery menu and did a full wipe, cleared cache, still nothing...
I saw that if ANY of the system apps are gone, it will not work successfully... I also saw that Matt's Utility 1.20 can flash back to default ROM (all apps), but I cannot find solid confirmation that it works with my 98.18.78.
So all in all, I am stuck on an unrooted, locked 98.18.78 and cannot do any OTA updates. I'm trying to get to the latest version and get 4.4 when it pushes to my device. I'd love any advice! Thanks!
EDIT: I should add that I did freeze some other bloatware, but unfroze all of them before unrooting. The only system app I deleted was facebook

Okay, I read through all of that... I'm not very experienced with flashing things on my phone and really don't want a brick, so let me double check I have this right:
I can download the KitKat update from the XT926 thread, and using the instructions on House of Moto to flash it over to my phone? I can follow the house of moto instructions fine, they make perfect sense (thanks OP!), but seeing all the nitty gritty in the XT926 thread began to become giberish to me...
I really appreciate the help, and the speedy reply.

Okay, after a LOT more reading it's looking like I cannot downgrade. No big deal, but I still need to get the system app back installed. I see on another website that razr m will fail OTA after rooting with Motochopper 1.3 (how I did previously). The only way to resolve this is to flash to 9.30.1 via RSD Lite. I have never used this utility, but am going to research it. Could anyone confirm where to download that update to send over via RSD?

Sounds great, and House of Moto works with UNLOCKED bootloaders, correct? From my understanding you can go UP with a locked BL, but cannot go DOWN.

HoM works with locked and unlocked...... Unlocked can downgrade.... Locked can only flash the same or higher.... :)
Worked like a charm. On the official 98.30.1 update.
Any word on when KitKat will be available for the fxz update? Does the xt926 package work on the xt907? If so, that would be awesome. It still hasn't officially launched here (me and my 2 roommates with Razr Ms are getting no update when checking). At least now it looks like I can OTA it when it does release!
This forum rocks.

History has shown it's usually a few weeks after the OTA. But who knows...

Got the 4.4 OTA update this morning. Updated no problem. Runs great!
If I can do anything to help with getting the release online, let me know.
