The chances are slim at this point. Root on locked devices 4.4.2 has been a tough thing over all. Most times without write permissions to the system partition. The one chance for the HD and M was the PIE exploit from Jcase, but it was discovered that they had patched that hole prior to release.

Well, I've gotten a replacement RAZR HD from both Motorola and Verizon with JB on it.  Even the Verizon customer service folks I've talked to are not happy regardless of the manufacturer (though Motorola seems to be generating the most complaint calls).  VZ tech support folks are a bit overwhelmed at this point.  I didn't ask for a new phone but they sent me one anyway after I explained all of the reasons I hated 4.4.2.  And I was out of warranty.

I documented all of the changes that I really hated (and some that impacted the ability of the phone to perform) but in reality, while I was very nicely explaining my displeasure on a forced update to a phone I had liked, they were already entering the paperwork to send a replacement.  The VZ tech support lady I talked with was PO'd at KitKat on her Samsung but admitted that the majority of the complaints she had received were on Motorola phones.  The Motorola Tier 2 support folks were clueless. They just sent a replacement phone.  In both cases, they only had to check  their forums for the complaints.

Yes you can, I just did. I have a Droid Maxx HD, and the KitKat Update bricked my phone.  It's a long story, but after going around with Verizon and Motorola, I managed to fix the phone before Motorola could send the replacement using one of the guides in this Forum "How To: XT926 Upgrade to KitKat OTA" by SamuriHL (by the way, SamuriHL, you rock).  Instead of using the 4.4.2 firmware linked there to upgrade, I used jellybean firmware snagged from sbf.droid-developers.org to downgrade.  My phone was rooted before it was bricked by KitKat (not rooted now), and my bootloader was always locked.

I use PDANet, and 4.4.2 blocks the wifi - so I went back to jellybean.

Root and Bootloader Unlock now available for 4.4.2.

I'm looking forward to getting off KitKat and getting back to Swype and other advantages of an older OS.

I tried the Swype app on my XT907 and it was not quite the same.  The 4.1.2 integrated version was better, and allowed for the Google voice typing.  I found the Swype voice typing to be horrendous at accuracy.... when my trial ran out and I removed it.  The Google version of Swype is awful.  Also, one of my favorite things about 4.1.2 was being able to silence the phone from the lock screen.... why they removed that feature just makes me SMH.

I am not sure what is wrong with you who want to downgrade back to 4.1, I had a locked BL and pretty much stuck with stock 9.18/9.30 and even Nexesque via Safestrap and I thought that some lags and poor performance of the phone was okay due to the fact that the phone was released back in 2012, but after upgrading to KK and unlocking I feel like I've received a new phone, that snappiness and fast and smooth experience in overall is just so much joy. KitKat OTA is the best thing that happened to this phone in awhile (And I do not mean the stock firmware from Moto, I mean that they included old TZ and made us able to unlock phones once again).

Swype? Why not to use Swiftkey? It's free now.

TL;DR unlock your bootloader and get CM or Gummy ROM on your HD and enjoy your new, fast and responsive phone.

THIS! Swype is excellent and I paid for it years ago and haven't turned to any other keyboard, although I don't use the "swipe" feature because I've found that's not as fast as regular typing. And, with the predictive typing that comes with Swiftkey, which I find to be the best, I can type out messages faster without "swiping" all over the place.

As of now I'm fine with kk starting to like it but the only this that's bothering me is performance and battery life

Did you do a factory data reset? Battery issues and performance usually point to trying to keep data (especially system settings) across an OTA like this one (going from JB to KK).

Remember, a FDR will wipe out all settings and data on your internal storage and internal SD card, so back it up if you can before doing an FDR.

Also, check the battery stats and see what is eating up your battery. Worse comes to worse, root the phone, install Xposed framework and Greenify module and start hibernating any apps that seem to keep coming up out of wakelock.

I can go 40 hours on my phone before it's almost dead. Yesterday, I had the phone up for 20 hours (received phone calls, listened to music for about an hour, texted, played a few sessions of Simpsons Tapped out) and at 20 hours, I was at 50%. Mind you, this is just a measly little RAZR HD (not a MAXX). But, using Greenify, along with SmartActions, I have been able to make my phone last a full day with moderate use.

If none of that helps, then it could be a bad battery, but if it was working fine before KK, then I doubt that it's the battery.

Also, check your sync settings. Is everything set to sync? I've turned off a lot of the crap that syncs (gmail - I'll just refresh manually). I sync contacts, photos, app data, calendar, play books since I read across multiple devices and want to save my last read spot, music, google+ photos). That's still quite a lot but it doesn't seem to hurt too much.

I also ensure my screen brightness is set to auto so it will only turn bright if it senses there is a lot of light (such as in the sun). Otherwise, it keeps it a comfortable level when ambient light is low. Screen brightness (the higher it is) is the #1 killer of the battery. Runaway apps runs a close 2nd and is usually the issue. Again, the Greenify module along with the Xposed framework can really help here. Again, you must be rooted to run these though.

First off, you might need to update or install the correct drivers to have your phone connect to the PC. There's a really good tutorial on here, you'll just need to search for it. Second, you can't downgrade on a locked BL and you can't unlock that version unless you use Sunshine. Even then, downgrading can be risky.
