Install custom rom in Razr HD XT926

Best Answer Neo_mat , 23 June 2014 - 10:58 AM

Some of the ROMs that you are trying to flash may say that they are 4.4.x (4.4.4 even) but that doesn't mean they are going to work with your phone, yet. I know only two ROMs that work for sure with XT926 KK bootloader, both of them are being maintained by Dhacker29:

- Gummy ROM (Official builds support XT926 KK bootloader for about a week now ( https://twitter.com/...182106036117504 ))

- CyanogenMod(unofficial nightly builds from Dhacker29 are available at androidhosting - http://www.androidho...cker29/msm8960/)

Hello,

Yesterday unable to unlock the bootloader of my phone, I did root, installed a recovery (TWRP 2.7.1.0) and I did backup of my system. But unable to install a new rom.

I wipe and put to install, with TWRP, the system CW 11 and gapps, but the phone did not start most typically, was stopped on this screen:

Can you help me?

well, you cant install a custom recovery like TWRP unless you unlock the bootloader, so your post doesnt fully make sense

cmh714 I think you understood me. I'm just saying what I've done on my phone and I'm having problems with booting of custom roms.

Hmm, ok so my Portuguese is bad :) So assuming you did Unlock and flash TWRP now your having issues with getting a Custom ROM working.....me too :)

Supposedly CM11 and PacMan have working betas out, but I have not tried those....however they seem to be working for most people. I do know that I couldnt get LiquidSmooth or Paranoid working

I would post in the CM11 thread either here or over on XDA as well.

Oops, right after I posted, i see cmh posted his response. Sorry about that. And your Portuguese is perfect! ;) I don't know Portuguese but I understood everything you said.

Still, cmh pretty much explained why you can't use TWRP right now. You need to first flash the stock recovery back on to your phone based on which version your phone is running.

Once that happens, you need to unlock the bootloader first.  If you are on the latest Kit Kat, then you need to unlock the bootloader using the Motopocalypse tool.

Once you've unlocked the bootloader, THEN you can load TWRP.

Can you pass links of LiquidSmooth or Paranoid customs rom to XT926? I will try this.

You cannot flash any pre-KK custom ROMs. They won't work with the latest TWRP or CWM recoveries for KK.

There is a CWM11 that is more beta at this point. It works for some and for others it doesn't. It just depends.

Your best bet is to just wait until a more stable KK-kernel-based ROM for the XT926 comes out.

BTW, you are running an XT926 correct? Just want to make sure.

Yes, XT926, correct. I would have to change the kernel version to install a custom rom?

I guess what I should have stated is, if you stay with the KK stock flashed to your ROM, then you cannot flash any other pre-KK (that is, Jellybean) ROMs unless you obtain the Jellybean FXZ, use SamuriHL's House of Moto tool to use the universal script and flash back to JB, then flash a JB TWRP or CWM recovery and then you should be able to load the older pre-KK kernel ROMS back up.

If you wish to use the latest TWRP or CWM (which are built for the KK kernel) and be on the latest KK stock image, then you'll have to wait for new ROMs to come out that are updated to work with the new KK stock image.

I want to make something VERY clear to people....When someone says to use one of my tools, it does NOT mean to immediately PM me asking for a hand holding session.  Cause that's not going to happen.  It means go to my threads and start reading, and once you've read more than once, try it, and if you then have issues, post the issue in the thread.  Thank you.

One little correction. For the nightly gummy rom updates which according to that twitter post should have changed over to the 3.4 kernel from after the 20th are located -->

More like "one little addition", since I wasn't giving a link to the Gummy ROM itself, but to the tweet from Dhacker29 stating that Gummy ROM supports XT926.

And about the Gummy ROM, I've been using CM11 builds from Dhacker29 with TWRP 2.7.1.0 from him as well, and it seems like Gummy won't work with TWRP or any other recovery (!ASSUMPTION! I've tested only with TWRP, but I ASSUME this) that isn't the one that is located here

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

, file: Gummy-CWM-based-touch-recovery-moto_msm8960.img

With TWRP had problems during installation like on formatting /system it would become corrupted (0 MB size, can't mount/etc, had to manually reformat/repair and reboot from TWRP), after solving issue with /system I've managed to finish installation and then got stuck on Motorola Boot Logo forever, had to restore back to CM11 backup.

So if anyone who has TWRP installed now, will try to get Gummy ROM running with that and fail, please try with the CWM that Gummy Team provides and report his success, pretty please? ^^ I will do this, but not right now, falling asleep, but definitely will do that in the morning.

What recovery have you used? Try to install the one that is being provided by Team Gummy at:
