Motorola announced their Q4, and year-end, earnings today and we now have some solid numbers on what Motorola sold and what they didn't. Here is the breakdown between smartphones and tablets that were sold.
  • For all of 2011, Motorola sold 18.7 million smartphones and 1 million tablets (Motorola Xoom, Xyboard/Xoom 2)
  • For the final three months of the year, Motorola sold 5.3 million smartphones and 200,000 tablets.

While these look like some good numbers, it still put Motorola at a non-GAAP operating loss of $19 million and a 27 cents per share loss. There was no mention of the Google acquisition or their efforts of updating their newest hardware (ie. the RAZR) with ICS. Motorola didn't even hold a conference call for these earnings, which isn't that much of surprise considering the numbers.
