There has got to be some way to trick the Circles widget into thinking you are running the stock launcher because the stock launcher is crap and all anyone really wants is the widget. Is there any way to see _how_ its checking what launcher you are running? I'm guessing its probably not as easy as editing one of the XML files in the apk or someone would have surely figured it out by now.

I know the RAZR M launcher sucks. I don't like the screens all to the right plus it was laggy.

Went back to stock screen for right now.

There are so many directions out there and so many files it is hard to tell which is what. Sherry apparently just installed the 4 apk files and everything was hunky-dory. OP has 5 files, the newly introduced circleconfig.apk which I have not seen in any other download.

Someone else is telling us to extract some lib files from the homescreen.apk and copy those to the lib directory.

Yet someone else is saying copy the files to system/app and install twice after holding your nose jumping up and down saying "rubber baby buggy bumpers" while simultaneously rubbing their tummies in a circular motion.

Then when I went back to stock, reboot and no homescreen. Cannot navigate whatsoever. Then I realize that the original homescreen.apk must have the lower case "h" and not capital H like the replacement RAZR M file. Renamed the file through adb and now have my original launcher back.

LOL.

Easiest way I have found to install is using this flashable zip. (Note it will delete the native homescreen)

(You must be on a ROM with safestrap to install flashable zip.)

If you want notification counters... install quickview.apk as a system app and change permissions.

Same goes for the favorites widget.

If you follow this... all should work fine.

I'm gonna take a run at the circle widget with apktool later today and see if a couple lines in the android manifest are responsible for keeping this from running on third party launchers.

I did just install the apk's in the link I used, and the circles widget seemed to work. However, I didn't like the launcher, so I uninstalled it. Using Nova Pro with One More Clock widget.

Disappointed and hurt. Not surprised.

Well that was a bust. I can edit the android manifest and put it all back together and reinstall fine but the problem isn't there. Gonna do some more poking around but there are a lot of files in there.

not good.

you can re-flash to ICS. (It won't boot.) Then re-flash the JB ota upgrade. YOu will lose root but can used the new exploit to get root back,

only other think I would know to tell you to try would be to go to the playstore (from a pc) and install a home app like Apex. (Not sure if that will work... but it might be worth a shot. I have installed several programs that way... but not a home app... and not with the home.apk not loading.) Hopefully it will install and then let you use Apex instead of the home apk. IF it installs... you can then re-install the home.apk. Don't forget to set the permissions if you re-install home, apk via RE.

Last thing to try .... download the Fuzion app for the PC.

Attach USB cable and run program and select 1 blur options. Then select option 2. Install Stock Motorola Launcher/Circle widgets.

That might do the trick.

I am having tons of issues with this. Already had to wipe and reset my phone once, and issues still remain. It tells me every time I go to add the circles widget that the widget cannot be displayed or is not compatible with this home screen. I've tried 3 different programs to do the system/app replacing stuff.  there is just lack of a solid step by step detailed guide on what to do, so I am just googling and trying a mishmash of different instruction sets. Would really like to find some reliable steps for doing this on Jelly Bean.

Also the messaging app that has been included with several of the packages does not install no matter what. It just says failed, and now leaves me with no texting app on my phone. This is something of a mess.

1. The circle widget is only compatible with the RAZR M or I launchers. (M is the one included in this install.) Make sure you are running the new M launcher. (Whatever launcher you are running is not the new one. That is why you are getting the 3rd party error.)

2. Down load a home manager app and see which one is running.

3. For JB install... I recommend goto this install....

It's a simpler install and you also get the new JB search bar.

Thanks for the reply. What's the best way to do this step by step? I've been sort of following several guides, but none of them are working the right way.

Edit: Let me give you the reason why I ask: for example, when I try to use some programs to copy things over to system/app, it tells me "copy failed" for no reason at all, while other programs let me do it. then sometimes I go into one of these programs that I copied over to system/app, and try to install the app, and I get a crazy message like "unable to parse package". None of this makes any logical sense, and I can't find any how to guides to avoid this type of nonsense. It seems to just be random with one app or the other.

You can also use root expolyer to install the system app folder. Don't "install". Copy the file to the folder and remember to change permissions to RWRR. Re-boot. Also... if you are replacing the home app... install a 2nd home like APEX. That way if the new home app fails... APEX will still be there. (You can delete APEX later if you want.)
