all my navigation buttons disappeared after the phone locked up when trying to simply unlock it as normal using the slider

rooted unlocked XT-926

cannot do anything without Navigation buttons just able to turn it off

I cleared the cache using the buttons didn't seem to do anything

anyone ever heard of this?

also the display on top of the screen is gone shoeing the 4G and signal strength

Twrp installed?....... If so, boot into twrp wipe cache AND dalvik cache.... Reboot and try again........ It could also be an app you have installed that ain't playing nice....

Hey John no it's been a while hope all is good with you

no never messed with TWRP don't really know what it is

only thing I did different today was updated an app called plainimeter and huge update for messenger can't do much after turning off then back on the first thing I do I'm stuck there with no navigation buttons have to turn off again.  pretty wild

Clear the cache and Force stop both the apps you updated .... Reboot and see if the nav buttons come back...... If not.... I would backup all your important "stuff" and nuke and repave.....

And yes, thank you, all is well in my little corner of the world, and you? (current phone issues notwithstanding).... Lol

Thanks John probably needs this anyhow backed up good stuff on internal card and did a full factory reset  seems to be bak now and all the nav buttons returned

just takes days to get it all installed again but what the heck it will be fresh and fast running again like a computer it was staring t run a bit slow

will I have to re root after all the installing I used towel before? thanks man I appreciate it as always

Doing good over here in Tenn. the work on the farm has been cold but spring will be here in 5 or 6 weeks , been shooting a few coyotes they killed 3 calves in 5 days -costly

retirement is nice don't miss driving at all logged 3 million miles that was enough just driving the tractor now much more enjoyable.

Great ... Glad it worked :)..... If you only did a factory reset (via the settings menu) then no you will not have to re-root..... If you used House of Moto or RSDLite, then yes you will need to re-root..... And since you are unlocked, I would highly recommend installing TWRP recovery, then you will no longer need to use tools such as towelroot to root....... I'm pushing 2 million miles now..... Should be close to it by the end of the year...... :):) .... BTW where in TN are you?
