About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name.
It was a project that was first created based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean because of curiosity.
In the early days it was just a one man show on one device (EVO 3D).
Since then many others have joined the project and it has grown a whole lot.
We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours and many of our contributors have gone to help other projects,
that is ultimately why we do what we do.

Once Jelly Bean was over, we decided in Kitkat to move to a new base which was OmniROM. While AOKP was fun,
OmniROM proved to be even more exciting because it challenged us to see what we could with something different.

With Lollipop, we have moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should.
That said it has been an awesome learning experience and is still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward.

Few more things we will say is that we don't accept nor ask for donations. We don't believe in that.
Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc.....

We will never ask for a dime. All we do ask is that you search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

We would like to give thanks to everyone that contributes to the Android community,

jl just keeps 'em going on this old phone. The teams that produce these ROMs are amazing. I'm just lucky to be a part of two of them. :)

I've had good stability so far with DU. I'm using my kernel (same as Exodus) so that should help. It's kind of like Android in general, different flavors of the same thing. I just want you guys to have more options. I do want to say thanks to nobe1976 for getting that hotspot working. :D

Yes, me too, thanx ever so much. That's always been a deal breaker for me. I'm still on unlimited data and my phone is my internet.

You could try turning off ambient display. We are looking into using a better implementation of ambient display.

I'm going to give this a try soon. You're throwing me off with all the gapps packages! I only need one right? I like the slim so I can decide what I want. Is one better than the other 2 or is it just more apps?

I use the Slim gapps because I like a very minimal set up and I compile them myself so they are always up to date....the others are good too The DU-TBO are themed (blacked out or clear) and Banks gapps are always solid as a rock. :)

Nice, thanks jl. I couldn't get past initial set up. Got stuck on... Verifying connection or whatever it says after WiFi info. 2 different wireless networks and over 4g all with different flashes going to download again and try again tomorrow for some reason I thought it said banks was the only one recommend lol.

I've been using the slim zero gapps on every 5.1 rom I have flashed with zero issues FWIW. YMMV.

I'm sure we all do this from time to time but I've been in a phase of flashing every other day whether it's an update or just try something different. I'm so sick of setting and resetting my home screen. Titanium is great for app backup and restore. Nandroid manager doesn't work apparently for lolli ROMs. Anyone have a handy app for home screen layout backup and restore? Didn't even think about backing up the home launcher I wonder if that would work? I think all or most of the ROMs have the same home launcher. I tried to skip wiping data last time... That just gave me a boat load of crashes.

I have used Ultimate Backup Pro with stock roms and was able to get my home screen back several times. You have to make sure you select backup apps and data for the backup
