Have you been able to re root the phone and download supersu from the playstore?

Yes, I have. I followed the prompts in SuperSU to have TWRP root the phone, and the phone appears rooted.

I tried deleting the files causing the issues from the Terminal inside TWRP using rm -R -f, and the error I get is "rm: can't stat 'filename' I/O error".

This is the kind of error I expect with file system corruption. Is there any way to repair the file system on Android?

just by flashing it.  When it quits flashing then the memory chip is done for and you end up replacing the main board..  You can try wiping the data again and reboot it.  Otherwise all you can do at this point is wipe and reflash until you get a good flash. Don't wipe or format anything but the normal partitions leave boot partition alone you don't ever want to see the Qdownloader error.  That is the end of the main board.

When you use HOM use the full (flash everything)option that should also overwrite the user data as well.  Puts the phone back to complete stock.

But given that these are app folders left over before I ever flashed, I'm not sure how flashing will repair this. TWRP seems unable to delete them, either via the wipe or manually through the file manager or terminal rm command.

So I guess just rename the folders I can't delete, and run with the phone as is?

Was this just a fluke, or is this a sign that my Razr Maxx HD nearing the end of it's life and I should start budgeting for a replacement?

Oh, ok. I didn't think to try that.

Would that be the recommended step, to try to resolve these errors? Or is it kind of, "you could erase all your data, and try to fix it, or you could just live with it as is"?

Speaking for myself I am one that doesn't like to "live with a problem". I want to have it correct or not at all.  Here is a link for the latest twrp for the 926 from Dhacker29. Use the download now option, you don't want to use their download manager.

I don't know if that will make a difference over the 2.8.5.0 build or not.

That's actually the version of TWRP I have installed, so I guess doing a full flash and overwriting the user data is my next step for trying to fix the problem.

Ok, re-flashed with House of Moto, erasing user data. That cleared up the errors I was seeing in TWRP. I'm going to try to get root back with the stock image, then see if I can install a custom rom.

Tried installing Exodus after rooting, but that hangs during boot again. Not sure what the problem there is.

Not sure either and the developer that was supporting it is no longer supporting that rom here.  He moved over to another rom team.

Same problem trying to install Dirty Unicorns rom. Not sure why I can't get a custom rom working.
