Voltron SPOILERS

So this is to discuss the Voltron series, including the new one on Netflix.  If you've not seen all the episodes, you've been warned.  Go finish the season first.  LOL

So yea, that was quite the ending this season.  They plan on stranding Zarkon in the middle of nowhere with no weapons, no engines, and no way to get back.  And they came damn close to pulling that off according to plan.  Haggar proved to be quite the little beotch, however.  And of course Zarkon himself had a few surprises for the Voltron paladins.  At least Shiro got his bayard back.  However, um, speaking of Shiro, where the hell did he end up?  Pretty obvious they were setting Keith up to lead and take over the Black Lion.  It seems likely that they'll set up season 3 to be closer to the original.  Call Lotor, huh?  Greattttttt.  LMAO

OK just finished it...amazing ending!   Bring on Season 3 now please!!!!

 

Love what they've done w/it.  More complex, more fun, so many stories to be told.  

 

Zarkon being the original black paladin - one day they'll have to flesh that out.  His rise, his fall from grace, what happened.   Part of me wants to believe his obsession over the Black Lion is yes - it's an extremely powerful weapon but beyond that there is a part of it that makes him yearn for it beyond reason.   I think part of him might want it for the memories attached to it of more halcyon days.  

 

Yeah.. Haggar is extremely powerful - considering she blocked the blast that took out Thace, the platform he was standing on, and a significant chunk of the systems in Zarkon's ship.   I would not rule out the possibility that she is the ultimate villain.  Zarkon being the top - but only because Haggar twisted his heart.  Akin to Anakin and Palpatine.   

 

As for Shiro - I hope to God they haven't killed him off - I love the character.  They eluded to Lance taking over I suppose.  Yes, he could do well there, but he has already formed a tight bond w/the red lion (it came to his rescue 2-3 times on its own).  Maybe a blade of Mamora on the team?  Dunno how that works...  

 

Wondering if Shiro become one with the lion.  The lions seem to be a bit fickle when it comes to who they allow to pilot it - the black lion until the "Space Mall" episode seemed to prefer Zarkon over Shiro (even ejecting Shiro in S1).  It was when the lion saw for itself that Shiro respected it and saw it as more than just a weapon that it finally severed its bond.   Would it take to Lance easily?   If Zarkon is out of the picture it might not be a problem but if he's not, is Zarkon could be a threat to Lance's control.   

 

In past incarnations Lotor has been worse than Zarkon.   I half wonder if that was Lotor that Galra Kieth ran into in the Weblum...  I remember in the original that Lotor turned Zarkon into a robeast.   

Lance is piloting the blue lion in this version.  Keith is piloting the red lion and is poised to take over as lead of Voltron.  I suspect they'll do what they did in the original which is the princess will pilot one of the lions.  Shiro being akin to Sven in the original.  If Lance moved to the red lion and Allura took the blue lion it would match the original series in terms of who's piloting which lion.  And would even "explain" why they're all wearing the colors they do in the original series.  Keith was wearing the red lion's suit while piloting the black lion in the original.  Lance had the blue lion's suit while piloting the red lion.  The princess, of course, gets her own pink suit.  LOL.  I really do love how they've evolved the series in this new version.  Now with Lotor coming, it really will match up well with the original series, especially if they make the changes I'm talking about.  Zarkon obviously isn't dead quite yet, but, seriously injured.  He'll heal, I'm sure, but, in the meantime Lotor will reign supreme.  And that is going to suck.  LMAO  And yes, it's possible that was Lotor in the Weblum.  Not sure.  Both Zarkon and Lotor became robeasts in the original series.  I love that it's back.  The Voltron show that was on a few years ago was ok, but, not as good as this.

Dunno on the princess thing piloting the blue lion.  They could do that I suppose - though she seems to have an integral part of driving the castle.  Though the with that one annoying alien fellow and Coran they can handle a bit.   Unlike the original - the castle is almost always where Voltron is where before Voltron would leave the castle back on the planet.   Hell, the castle never flew until late in the original anyway.

 

Sven was kinda cool.. though Shiro is so much better and doesn't have the hokey Swedish accent.  

 

We'll have to see.. but yeah.. wow guys - well done, LOVING it.  I've had my beefs with Netflix in the past but now I'm fully on and don't mind at all paying them for this.

Yes indeed.  Netflix has done a tremendous job with this show.  I loved this season quite a bit.  Very much looking forward to the next season.  And the bonus is I get to rewatch most of this season as my son hasn't seen most of it yet.

 

As for the castle, quite frankly I like this new one better.  Damn thing's got a wormhole generator ffs!  LOL

So I just watched through Voltron 84.. funny seeing it again through adult eyes. Some parts, yes were great. Other parts...

Cartoons of my father's generation, Bugs Bunny, classic Tom and Jerry were very well written, smart, and funny to wide audiences. It could simply be a matter of survival of the fittest how those are known and many others not so much.

Voltron is a bit of an oddity. The writing wasn't that great, the animation was so-so, but it seems the concept endured. Many small reboot attempts, stirred into pop culture here and there, just enough to keep the spark alive.

Seeing the old ones have me more appreciation of this new one. I'm eager to see where they take it. So far the new one is 1000x better in so many ways.

Yup. I have the entire series on DVD. It's still my favorite childhood animated show however it wasn't perfect no.

Thinking though - most of those selected episodes focused on Lotor's infatuation with Allura.   Wondering if we'll see Lotor as infatuated with Allura as Zarkon was the black lion.   Personally I hope they keep Allura out of the lions - though that would mean that the situation with Shiro will need to be solved either with his replacement or "resurrection".  The staff have indicted that she won't be in a lion.   

 

Frankly that castle is pretty badass now.   Hell, the Allura of the past and the new one are virtually nothing alike.   The old one was the damsel in distress, the new one, while still being effeminate, can pretty much rip your head off.      She could likely take out all the current paladins herself.

 

Pidge I think is the most improved character.  The character makes more sense now...   

WTF no one is talking about the fact that Voltron season 3 is a WEEK a way????  Damn, kids, this is going to be one hell of a season!    August 4 beotches.  I can't wait!!!

Didn't have time tonight but I know what we'll be doing tomorrow.  WOO HOO!

That was a pretty damn good season if not short.  Only 7 episodes.  We just finished watching all of them.  I rather enjoyed it!

Looking forward to seeing it. Too many irons in the fire lately.
