I'm at the end of my rope and I have no idea what to do.

When I go into SS to toggle safe side (immediately after installing it) it starts the toggle fine, gets past backing up data, starts restoring safe system data, then I get this error:

Error while restoring /data!

When I go back to reboot the phone (still on the non-safe side) I am greeted with Andy wanted me to molest him. It somehow wipes my phone.

I have no clue what the issue is, and I've never experienced this. I restored using Matt's utility to .748, upgraded to .173, rooted, installed SS, then tried again. Same issue. So I started eliminating the unknowns to try to figure out what was going wrong.

At first I thought it might be Matt's Utility, just because I was trying to figure out what I was doing differently. So I used the fast boot files and RSD to go all the way down to .744, OTA to .748, rooted using ZergRush, protected with Voodoo, OTA to .173, installed SS... same issue. So just like I thought it's not Matt's utility.

So now I have no idea what the problem could be. I am doing nothing differently and can't get SS to toggle. Anybody experienced this before? Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I am using SS 1.08 and a Verizon Droid Razr,

:-D :-D

Haven't seen that before, but if you are trying to restore from a backup you made in Safestrap, then from my experience, you need to leave Safe System disabled. I believe the only time you need to enable Safe System would be when you are flashing a ROM. Have you tried to restore with Safe System disabled? Let us know.

Not restoring anything, the only restore was done with the fast boot files in either RSD or Matts utility.

You have to have some residual data somewhere. I suggest making a backup of your SD card and formatting everything then run the 173 XML in RSD.
Oh and if you want to go back to 744 don't root till you get on 173 . No need to with moto fail.
Also you can go into advanced options and restore system, data, etc etc
The only way I have restored a backup successfully, is wiping cache and dalvik when making a backup, also do not rename the backup.

Yeah the only reason I did that was to test it to see if it still did it the old way.

Thanks for the tips, the phone is actually on it's last leg; touch screen not really working, battery is faulty, etc. I was planning on sending it in anyways.
