I am leaving for california on a trip in a week, bringing a laptop, PS vita, My old razr maxx, and a iPod touch to keep everyone busy, planned on tethering to them a little but the hotspot stock is not visible to any mobile devices, only my laptop can scan and see the signal, every other device does not register it. If I did not have the VITA id try just going the jailbreak and rooted apps route but the vita is a highly important part of the setup.

How can I make the hotspot on my Droid Razr Maxx HD visible to mobile devices and not just computers?

I have rooted my HD, and Maxx, Jailbroke the ipod.

Try this: Under Settings>Change Device Profile> Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)

I had to do this with my wife's Razr M after I rooted it. I'll be able to test with a Razr Maxx HD Tuesday or Wednesday once the device I bought off Swappa gets here...

Thanks to DirtyDroidX!!!

EDIT: I just realized you said you are using the stock tether. Try downloading Wifi Tether For Root Users and see if that helps?

Worked great for me.. wasn't visible until I switched the device profile in the tether app's settings. for some reason the current rom i'm on wouldn't work on stock tethering with the entitlement change. Fusion RC1 | 24V | Thanks..
