is there any way to retain the stock homescreen layout while switching to another rom? i like the nexusesque rom, but i want to keep the homescreen the same as the stock rom, to recover the layout from the stock slot, but also keep the quick toggle page to the left of home. is there any way to do that?

You can. I can't find any instructions for the HD but is the Razr M info. You can use that as a guide and grab those apks from the HD and install them as instructed. Should work on that ROM since it is Blur based.
