I am rooted and running Eclipse 1.3 ROM. What is the best way to return to stock .173? Will booting into AP Fastboot and then running Matt's utility, option 2 I think, be the safest way?

The safest way is fast boot with matts utility or RSD lite.
Here's another option if your willing to try

Thanks for the reply. I saw the information in the link you provided. Once flashed, can you unroot that ROM?

The best way to go back to Stock Stock-No root, nothing. Is to use the latest version of RSD Lite and flash the Fastboot files from the bootloader. I've bricked and boot looped a couple times and every time, this has saved my ass.

How and where do I get RSD lite and the Fastboot file you speak of? I am on the .75 ICS leak from last month (rooted). I like it a lot, but I don't want to be stuck with it when Official ICS comes out. How do I go back to .173, so I can be back on the upgrade path? Obviously once there, I will get the .181, which based on what i am seeing, I can deal for a few months until official ICS comes OTA.
Thanks

I used matts utility to return from .75 ICS to .173 gb and lost 4g radio. Does it reload the radios or should i rsd?

It should reload the radios. That's happened to me before. I repeated the process and it worked.
