Well, the soak test has officially wrapped up and it looks as though the OTA push should be starting, or may have already started:

Hi.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our soak test of new Jelly Bean software for the Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx. After reviewing your community comments and survey feedback, we've made the decision to release the software in stages for all owners starting later this evening.

We will continue to investigate issues reported in our soak community and in the survey. And I may be in contact with some of you to follow up on some of the problems you have reported.

This soak community will remain open for a short period of time, but within the next few hours I will restore your access to the public area. To return to the public communities, simply log out of the forums and log back in. Remember, all communications related to this soak test, and the details of our processes, are confidential and should not be shared.

Again, accept our thanks for sharing your time and insights to test this software, and for joining the Motorola Feedback Network.

What can you do to prepare? That's simple, make sure you have root protected via OTA rootkeeper and are on your stock side ROM. Also, thaw out any frozen apps to make sure you're set to take the OTA.

Of course, we will be available to help address any issues with upgrading to the OTA!

I'm on the original RAZR maxx with Verizon. I was not part of any soak test, however as of a few minutes ago, I received notification of a massive (~340 mb) update.

I'm assuming it's JB. Hope either FoxFi still works, or they disable the "check" in the native WiFi hotspot (since I have a limited account).

I'm reluctant to root since it's a company phone, but I'll do it if it's the only way to get the hotspot again.

That's the JB update, for sure.

The one's you installed, you're supposed to keep.

Others that came on the phone (motoprint and others) will be removed/replaced.

Nothing, really. All of your apps will stay where they are. Some "may" not work due to it being JB but those incidences are few and far in between, like my local news (FOX8 WGHP) stopped working, but they sent down an update for it and all is right again.

Some Moto apps will disappear as they have pseudo-debloated JB.

Got my jb update early this morning. A few differences noticed. Check out the attached screen shots and tell me what to make of them.

I've attempted the update and it failed. Didn't see any error messages. I have uninstalled some items previously but I thought that I got them reinstalled. Should I just use Matt's 1.82 utility to get back to stock ICS, root, restore my apps and try the update again?

Will the soak test update be replaced by this update?

Yes, assuming you are on ICS, that would be the best way to go.

If you've flashed the soak test then you're already on the version that is being pushed right now. :)

Yeah mrmugg, just reflash with the utility, root, then use root keeper to protect root. Then temp unroot and reroot 4 times. Then leave the phone rooted after fourth time. Then download and install jellybean. Then use root keeper to restore root after update is installed. Worked like a charm for me

You can do it this way or just leave it unrooted, go all the way to JB and root using Dan's RAZR Blade utility. The root exploit works on the new JB OTA also.

I thought RAZR blade utility only restored root for phones that were rooted on ICS but couldn't restore on the jb leak. Didn't know it worked to root jb from a fresh, non rooted install. Good to know though

Yeah, the utility is for anyone running JB. It doesnt restore root or anything, it just plain roots the phone.

Would it be wise to do an FDR after update has loaded?

Thanks Droidrzr for the continued support of my family and a special thank you to Kaos and Kelly....

Yes. That ususally fixes any minor items you may encounter. Best to start fresh
