ASUS last week unveiled a new, hybrid, all-in-one-PC that can function either as a desktop unit
running Windows 8 or as an extra-large Android tablet. Weighing in around 5.3 lbs and priced similarly to a
Desktop/Laptop ($1299) the Transformer AiO will become available early in Q2, 2013.

The AiO features the following:

Tablet specs:
-NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad-core CPU (on tablet)
-18.4", 16:9, Wide Screen, Full HD 1920x1080, LED-backlight, 178° wide viewing angle
-Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor
-2GB DDR3 at 1600MHz (on tablet)
-ASUS SonicMaster audio technology high-fidelity sound
-IPS technology for wide viewing angles
-32GB of storage, essentially making it an oversized tablet

PC base/Docking station specs:

In addition, the Transformer AiO can function as a remote virtual desktop by connecting wirelessly to the
dock to run Windows 8 and associated apps. According to ASUS, the machine can switch back and forth between operating
systems (Jelly Bean 4.1 or Windows 8 x64 bit) with the push of a button.

Due to its obvious size and hefty measurements the Transformer AiO might not be the most road-worthy device.
It excels however in office or in-home usage. Example: Users working on a project in Windows 8 (docked desktop mode) only
have to pick up the screen to change the system to a wireless-driven, remote desktop disguised as an Android tablet.

So, basically it's a tablet+dock combo?

Yes and No.
Yes, its a big-arse tablet with a doc.
No..the doc operates as a desktop with components separate from tablet.
Additionally it offers dual boot/OS. You could replace your desktop and laptop both with this.
Specs are pretty impressive. The size is too... I'm assuming if you were to be "mobile" with this you would need one of the larger sized laptop bags.

I kinda want this thing in my life. Could easily replace the crappy downstairs computer we use when we don't want to go upstairs to the good one in the computer room.

I like it. Pretty cool. But can you run Windows on it as a tablet when you're not by the dock? I guess not right?

From what I understand, if you cannot connect wirelessly to the docking station, then you will not have access to the Windows 8 platform.
This infers that you would have greatest usability of the windows 8 platform while in a home or office type of scenario. Questions come to mind though...
What if from your tablet you VPN into and connect to a home network from miles away? Would you then be able to access the Windows 8 OS or does it have to be a direct wireless connection to the docking station?

Asus says the following which is very high-level:

**Pondering**
Even if you didn't have access to Windows 8 while away from the docking station, it would be trivial to sync data between the OS's via third party apps?
Thinking about gmail accounts, cloud services etc

Just remember, sometimes devices designed to do many things, don't do anything very well. I would not want to be an early adapter.

I'd be an early adopter just for the sake of being able to figure out many different nuances of a new platform within a platform factor like this.
