Anyone else having a problem getting their exchange contacts and calendar to sync with Outlook 2010 while on a ROM that uses exchange2.apk?

I just got the phone a week ago, and have yet to root and rom it (thus still on 4.1.1) and have noticed an exchange sync issue.
I have my email set to sync manually, because I spend most of my time in the office, and don't need the phone dinging/buzzing away in my pocket 60 times a day.
On my X2 this worked great. On my XT926 this seems to mean that the contact & calendar are now only syncing manually as well, which stinks.
