I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what's going on with my boot ani. I'm on a Windows 8 box, created a boot animation in Photoshop (24-bit png files), and can't get it to load for the life of me. I'm thinking it's a 7-zip related issue, as i've tried to mod a working boot ani's desc.txt file with the same results. i've set the permissions to rw-r--r-- and get nothing but a black screen. i've tried different resolutions (lower than the 540 x 960), put it in the data/local folder (vs. the system/media) folder, and ever put it on my kindle fire, but still the same result. tried a blur based and a cm10.1 rom, but nothing seems to work. any help would be greatly appreciated!

And feel free to use this (if someone can fix it). Thanks in advanc

Hmmmmm...

I took a look at it and it is very large. I converted to jpgs and optimized the images and reduced the size by a factor of 10.. included it in a flash file so you won't have to worry about a permissions issue..

Give this a try:

Thanks JaeKar! Seems to be working perfectly. So, was this basically a size issue then? Admittedly I was a little eager to test it out and never optimized the images.

Quick couple of question on the flashable wrapper, is that reusable with other boot animations? For example, if i were to create another boot animation, could i just unpack your file and swap the images, then zip it back up with 7-zip (store) and flash it? Also, is it device specific, or could I use the same wrapper with my tablet?

Thanks again for getting this working! It's very much appreciated!

It is completely reusable.. Just make sure that you re-zip on store and it will function with any ROM that has busybox installed and running. (usually any rooted device should have it installed) Size has been an issue for some ROM/kernel combinations. I always shoot for something near 5 megs to ensure that it runs smooth with any kernel.

Happy flashing!
