Have a battery problem. Need to send mine back to Verizon. Im on stock OS 4.1.2 with the XT926 Maxx HD. Can not or do not know how to get rid or Root. I removed Su.apk and superuser.apk. My bad now i can not get root if i wanted to. But there are still files in there. if you do the ## Program then 000000 it says im rooted. Does this matter?

i would try using matts hd utility downgrading back to stock then going back to 4.1.2. but i havent heard if you could go back or not yet. or you can download rsd lite and flash the rsd files for 4.1.2 heres a link to those and rsd. it will wipe rooot out.

That depends largely on how big of a customer you are, how many lines you have, etc. I bricked my first Droid DNA trying to turn S-Off after unlocking the boot loader. The give me a new one at the store without question. Ive heard others get grief from it. So, depends....

it all really depends if they are sending one in the mail they threaten you if it is rooted or broke you could get charged up to 500$. and some of the instore techs only now the basics of the android systems and not indepth.

Even if the retail store accepts the phone because a D.S. VZW rep took it, they can (and do occasionally) charge you once the phone gets back to the manufacturer for refurb. Just because you get the phone accepted back into stock doesn't mean you aren't going to get charged. What it comes down to at the end of the day is your account. VZW does almost everything based on your standing, credit and payment history. Specifically, if you ask anyone in the company Verizon explicitly states that do not EVER do early upgrades. But, if you call customer service and are in good standing, have good payment history, and hit a few other criteria, then you can.

Just powered it up, seems like they wiped it and upgraded to 4.1.2 ... I really hope it can be rooted at this point. Anyone have any idea?

No bill in the package, just FYI ;)

Had to send my phone in rooted still, phones power button died and the battery died when setting up the new phone, all I had was titanium backup and a app to use the volume buttons to wake the screen, those apps are the only root apps I had on there when it died so I hope im safe.

About 3 weeks ago I pulled my phone out of my pocket and the inner screen was cracked, not the outside. Screen wouldn't even power on. So I sent it in rooted and when I got it back from warranty {luckily they fixed it} they had restored it on 4.1.1 without root and everything. I don't even know why because its like that has anything to do with replacing a screen. But if its on 4.1.1 you can still downgrade and root so you should be fine, but then again that was before 4.1.2 was available so I hope it works out for you man.

Same issue for me, LCD cracked under the glass. Pretty ridiculous design flaw for a supposedly super-tough phone, but whatever, they fixed it free. Sadly, they flashed 4.1.2. I just got it back yesterday, so I imagine anyone from this point on can expect them to do the same.

i called in for a replacement for an OG MAXX. what I got in the mail was a MAXX HD..WTF...anyway, the OG MAXX that I sent back somehow never got scanned in at thier wherehouse. tracking did confirm they received it. i kept getting texts saying i was going to be charged. each time i got a text i called in to document they received my phone....i ended up getting charged $649.95, then credited $649.95....

even if you get it changed in ##programming there is still a root check that you cannot change, or at least not that i've heard of...if you boot into stock recovery, down in the lower left hand corner there's a "qe x/x" on the screen...with "qe 0/0" meaning the phone isn't rooted and has never been rooted, "qe 1/1" meaning the phone is currently rooted and "qe 0/1" meaning the phone is not currently rooted but has been rooted in the past...having said that, i've sent rooted phones back to vzw/moto and not received any grief, if the problem was hardware related, not software related
