Want to make a GSM Patch for a XT912 98.72.8 or .16 CDMA ROM so you can run it on your XT910? Hopefully this will help get you there.

This will enable XT910 GSM users to run XT912 CDMA ROMs.

First off, all credit should be directed to Dtrial, artur0588, and HSD-Pilot. Dtrial and artur0588 modded the scripts for Jelly Bean .8 and .16 builds, and HSD-Pilot taught me how to make the GSM Patch for my

.

Secondly, please realize that this is ONLY FOR THE PATCH. If you have an XT910 GSM and want to run XT912 CDMA ROMs I believe there are a few other things you need to do, like change kernel and delete CID (Make a BACKUP!). Most GSM guys are using Boot Menu Manager (BMM) since you can do all this without the need for a computer. I am not going through this process because it is available elsewhere (XDA).

I am not responsible for anything you do to you phone.

What you will need:

  • Stock JB GSM Patch
  • Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

  • Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

  • Text editor such as Notepad++.
  • 7zip or equivalent.

Instructions
Follow the same instructions for both .8 and .16.

Step 1:

  • Download the stock GSM JB Patch.

Step 2:

  • Extract the contents and navigate to system/build.prop. Open with Notepad++.

Step 3:

  • Now you need to compare the stock build.prop with that of the ROM you want to use.
  • Go through the build.prop carefully and make the tweak changes to the stock build.prop. There are notes from dtrial and artur0588 in there. Do NOT change those properties.
  • The main portion of changes come after "Additional Build Properties" or "done adding lines" in the form of your ROM specific teaks. For Example, in the Aviator ROM you would need to copy over everything after "Aviator Tweaks."
  • Once you have the stock build.prop with the ROM specific tweaks, save it.

Step 4:

  • Right click on the original JB_OTA_GSM_Patch and click on 7zip, then "Open archive"
  • Navigate to /system, then drag and drop your newly modded build.prop in to replace the stock one.

Step 5:

  • Move the GSM patch to your SD card.
  • After flashing the ROM, flash the GSM Patch.
  • Success!

If this helped, be sure to click the "Like" button -->

I haven't been keeping up, and I believe this could be useful to others. What does a GSM patch do? Does it allow the xt912 to be used with usa gsm networks?

Not quite. This is for XT910 GSM users to run XT912 CDMA ROMs :)

I have found an XT910 ROM I really like, but I have an XT912. It's an AOKP ROM. Is there an easy way to do something similar to this to get a CDMA patch that will make an XT910 ROM run on XT912? Thanks!

You know, I'm not too sure. But from what I understand you might be able to go through and make the changes to the build.prop in reverse of you would do for the GSM patch. The only other thing is making sure you don't mess up your CID. So, in conclusion, I have no idea, but it might be possible :p

Thanks.. Its very detailed.
Though have a question. Does the patch also allow using the XT912 on gsm roaming while running a custom ROM?

If it only works for XT910 users, then shouldn't it be in the GSM section.

I believe the XT912 can go on GSM outside of the U.S. on the stock system. So any stock/blur based ROMs should also have that capability.

And yeah, a mod can move the topic if they need to. The XT912 section does get a lot of XT910 traffic too. And since this is directly related to CDMA ROMs, I though this location would be appropriate.

Yeah. But it doesn't work on AOSP based ROMs so I thought maybe this could help there.
I was a little confused about it. Thanks for elucidating.. ;)

OK, lets keep it simple, folks. Obviously this post is causing confusion. Perhaps, OP can simply respond YES or NO to the following: Can patch be used on XT912, if 1.running stock, CMDA, JB 4.1.2 2.XT912 custom Rom , JB 412 rooted 3. XT912 JB root, 4.2.2 AOKP rom 4. XT912 JB root 4.2.2 CM10.1 Rom Can patch be used on XT910, if 1.running stock, JB 4.1.2 2.XT910 root, custom Rom , JB 412 3. XT910 JB root, 4.2.2 AOKP 4. XT91O JB root 4.2.2 CM10.1 Droid Razr via Tapatalk

I don't see the confusion:

"This will enable XT910 GSM users to run XT912 CDMA ROMs."

That's it. :p

I'm sorry to tell you but you're wrong
patch is used to help a CDMA phone to start and operate radio modem GSM system.
official ROMs do not require patch, only custom rom.
you misunderstood (above is the explanation for creating patch to use a GSM rom on a CDMA phone)
(I personally have created a GSM patch for a CDMA mobile)Ihave a XT912 CDMA phone

''This will enable XT910 GSM users to run XT912 CDMA ROMs''
misspelled, right is ;

OK, just to clarify. This patch contains a build prop that has been modified to run on a GSM network. So yes, if you are on CDMA, you could use it when you go onto a GSM network. However, the XT912 has global ability without having to flash a patch.
Therefore, I put this patch out there for XT910 users to flash over a CDMA ROM so they can use that ROM in a GSM network. The only reason being that XT910 users want to run CDMA ROMs since there are more available.
You can use it for either purposes, but it was intended for XT910 users to run XT912 ROMs. It is posted in XT912 section since XT910 users browse this section if they want to run XT912 ROMs. As I said before, a mod can move this to the XT910 section if they feel that would be appropriate.

I hope I have explained myself enough for you to understand why I wrote it out how I did. If you want more clarification, please ask. :p

This might be a silly question, but instead of flashing two different things, couldn't you just replace the build.prop in the rom after you edit it and flash it like a regular rom?

Probably, but the proper way to do it would be to get a XT910 base and build the ROM on top of that. This is a quick short cut :)
