Safestrap Restore Help?

maxx hd safestrap restore troubleshooting

Best Answer BIrONIC , 21 April 2013 - 01:07 PM

Have you tried a different SD card? That's really odd that it keeps unmounting.

Yep. That's what my 'SD card unexpectedly removed' thread is about.

Anyway, after taking the card out, putting it into my computer, running check disk on it, copying the Safestrap old backup files to it, putting it back into the phone, and trying again, I finally got it done. Whew!

Old Safestrap backup has been restored, and now I'm happily back to where I was before the original Maxx HD got replaced. Yay!  :)

Thanks a lot for your help and advice in this process, guys.
I owe you.

Well I've become a pro at setting up my phone. Lol. At least with an unlocked boot loader you can make a full back up of how it is now. And twrp includes backing up your boot.IMG. so you can test 4.1.2 ROMs and even 4.2.2 ROMs without having to worry about going back to stock 4.1.1 it's as easy as restoring a backup.

Right. So, I guess that's my next thing to do.

So, if I'm going to unlock, I've seen various threads about it. Is there a single, preferred resource though ...for someone of my experience level?

Yes. Right here. Lol whatever issues or questions you have I'll be happy to answer them. But I'm a little worried about your SD card issue. Cuz once you unlock all warranties are voided. Unless you change back the boot logo to stock and find a dumb kid at a store to give you a new phone. Haha

Ya, I think you're right to worry about that.

Ya, I think you're right to worry about that.

But also like I said. Verizon employees are dumb. There's easy one clicks to put the stock boot logo back on the phone. I'd say 75% of vz people don't even know what a boot loader is. Lol

Stoopid question alert. Please be kind...

Is it possible to un-unlock the boot loader, like we can un-root....even a temp-un-unlock like the temp-un-root in Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper?

Clearly, this question betrays my level of understanding what's all involved with unlocking the boot loader (and the rest of the underlying Linux system that is Android), and it may be a moot point if I only understood it all better (I have to learn somewhere along the way), but I have to ask.  :-)

You can unroot but you cannot re-lock the bootloader...

As far as I know. The only way to actually check to see of the bootlaoder is unlocked is by booting into fastboot to see the device is unlocked status 3 message. That and of course the boot logo warning which is easily replaced. IMO if you need to send the phone back you can cover it up without the idiots at vz stores knowing :D

I've been reading this thread, but I had restored my Maxx from a backup I did a few days ago, but when it is successfully restored, I do a reboot, and the phone goes to a blank screen, how long should I wait, or do I need to go back into SafeStrap and wipe Cache and Dalvik cache?

Unlock your bootloader and say goodbye forever to Safestrap....
