How to Install Google Play Store 4.0 Right Now

Users who don’t want to wait can install the Google Play Store 4.0 update right now by downloading the Android 4.0 apk file and installing it on any Android smartphone or tablet running Android Froyo or higher. This process is easier than installing a new version of Android or an Android 4.2 update.
Users who have side-loaded, or installed a third-party app, are already familiar with the process. We’ll walk users through installing Google Play Store 4.0 with the Play Store 4.0.25 apk below.
Download the Google Play Store 4.0 APK file from

This is the Google Play Store 4.0.25 version, which Google just announced and it is running perfectly on the Nexus 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 we tested it on. Thanks to

for the download link.
After downloading the Google Play Store 4.0 apk transfer it to the phone or tablet. We prefer using Dropbox to quickly sync the file to the device. If you downloaded it direct to the Android smartphone or tablet you can
tap on it to start the installation process.

When prompted tap on Install in the lower right. This screen shows the Google Play Store 4.0 app permissions, which are the same as the old Google Play Store.
When prompted decide if it is OK for Google to scan the apps on the phone for harmful behavior. While we already use Lookout to scan for malware, we tapped on Agree. Users should be able to change this setting later under settings. Even uses who install items from third-p[arty sources will likely benefit from this.
Once the installation process completes, in less than 30 seconds, the new Google Play Store 4.0 is available to use without waiting weeks for it to arrive.
The Google Play Store 4.0 update brings a collection of new features and a new look tot he Google Play Store. Users can still access their purchased apps and media, but now users can checkout faster and updating apps is simpler, with one less page to visit.
Stay tuned for a Google Play Store 4.0 walkthrough which shows off the new Google Play Store features.

Tried adding it on my tablet per instructions and wouldn't install straight over current apk. Had to use root explore to copy and paste to system/apps and reboot. My Bionic however was able to install it per instructions. My guess is it depends on what your current apk is on how to install it. Tablet had a inverted app from a jellybean gapps. Very nice though thanks Hoffa.
