did he use the utility to get fixed? i have a similar scenario, only now the phone won't boot to any OS or even into TWRP. the utility won't flash anything to the phone because when i plug it into the computer, it doesn't "sense" the phone. when i power on i get the "warning unlocked bootloader" screen and then it goes to black. in that moment, the computer recognizes the phone is plugged into it, but then after a minute says that the device drivers were unable to be installed. i posted on nexesque but maybe that isn't the place for a problem like this. is my twrp broken? not sure where i can get rsd lite or what to do to it at that point.
edit:
i see rsd lite in the utility... but doesn't help me much when it doesn't recognize the phone is plugged into the computer

Are you holding all 3 buttons to power on into fastboot mode??

Looks like I also borked my phone (XT926) but in a slightly different way.
I have no idea how I did it, but I can't restore the factory recovery to the recovery slot. I've tried every manner listed on this site (Matt's tool, RSD Lite, etc.) and the only thing I'm successful at is getting the recovery image transferred to the phone without it actually installing.
Any suggestions?

Sorry about that last post being borked.
I'm still without the ability to boot into recovery and some of the directories are apparently missing to use Matt's tool and such as described above. I'd really like to get this resolved as I don't want to have to come up with some excuse to get a remanufactured phone to fix what is apparently my own screw-up.
Thanks!
