According to a supposed leaked document from Best Buy the Razr/Maxx will start seeing ICS updates as early as April 4th.

Such weird timing... :D

Who believes Who's excited? Who else is scared to see just how much torture ICS had to endure while being force-fed crapware against it's will. Who knows if ICS will have the strength to power our phones until it recovers. Here's praying for it.

Consolidation thread.

If this is the case, is my following plan of action to get it correct? (Currently running Eclipse v1.3) Switch back to stock by disabling safe system on Safestrap, and then using Voodoo OTA to preserve root? it seems this should do the trick...

Probably not. You'll most like fail system verification because safe strap deletes files that are checked in the /preinstall folder

I think the easiest plan of action to get the OTA would be to use Batman's RAZR utility to fast boot back to stock and reroot using the same utility. Install voodoo and protect root, then wait until we get the push. I'm waiting until we get word from our non ROM using members that the OTA has begun.

That being said, what I'm most excited about is seeing what our awesome devs have in store as far as custom Roms with a fully functioning RAZR version of ICS! Its going to be an awesome few months, all this dependant on whether this rumor is true, of course.

If this is the case, I'll just hold off rerooting my Maxx. Sweet! But the OP does have me wondering how well it will run with the enormous ammount of BS Bloatware that Verizon and Motorola puts on these things. Oh well, we can always root/reroot.

You may wanna root now, use rootkeeper app and then you'll be safe after the update.

It will be stock. Your only saving su. You may not be able to reroot. I highly doubt that any of the current root methods work at this time for this new build.

If I'm stock now, and root before the OTA ICS update hits, will having root mess up the OTA?

People are loosing root even with it backed up when using cheesecake, so in all likelihood OTA=no root.

My concern isn't losing root, but if having root would prevent the OTA from coming to my rooted Razr Maxx
