Unsure how the go to JB

Best Answer cmh714 , 14 April 2013 - 07:00 AM

Reasonably straightforward. Backup whatever you want just in case. Then use Matts JB utility. Option 1 will wipe your phone and flash the latest JB. As soon as the phone boots up, do the most minimal setup, do NOT setup Gmail, then immediately do Option 3 to root, then Option 4 will install the Safestrap app. Then in SS, install the Recover. Then find a ROM you like and enjoy. Go to the full post

I want to go to JB because the roms under ICS are not being supported as much anymore. My problem is I can't find where to actually start.
I am rooted with Matt's 1.82 and I am still on Safestrap 2. I am not fully confident in even going to Safestrap 3 as you can see :)
I am currently on the Evolution rom.
Can someone help? Where do I start?
Even pointing me to the correct threads will help too. TIA

are there any advantages going to JB besides the roms not being new. Is it faster, etc?

I tried using Matt's 1.9 and the second set of drivers would not download on my laptop. I had no luck and it failed on first step. I didn't lose anything though. I did upgrade to Safestrap 3.11 and after a heart attack or two figured out how to use it :D

Now what.... helpppp me please??

He was being nice and answered your question even though there are numerous threads on what to do and how to do it... Its early in the morning and most people are at work/school or getting ready to go there. Patience will get you far. As for what to do, he said literally everything there is to do. Use the utility, make sure its the correct one, and follow his instructions. A general piece of advice is don't ever jump into something until you know for sure you are able to get it done confidently. There won't always be someone here immediately to help! I have a Bionic and i have to get to class, so I will let one of the RAZR guys help you a little more. EDIT: Sorry for the formatting, tapa is being silly! Artfully crafted from my Jelly Bean'd Bionic

.
Theres plenty of help in this forum. I dare you to try and get better help anywhere else. I have a life, and we are all volunteer members like yourself.

As for your question, I chose not to respond as there are plenty of threads discussing what you asked. The problem is you chose to not search or read. I cant help that.

Also, you can realtime help and answers in the chatroom.

Was not a complaint, didn't intend it that way. I downloaded the wrong utility. There are many threads about doing this, so many that it is quite confusing.

You can just delete this post I spent all day on this yesterday and I am frustrated because I am not that great at this. Also I should mention if I have no phone I have no internet so being sure of what I am doing is a must, I can't ask questions.

No problem. And yes, it can be confusing. IMHO, JB is tons better than ICS. Having said that, there are some that are having various problems, usually around battery or wifi.

If you use Matts latest JB utility, you shouldnt have any problems getting JB, root and Safestrap (if you want that). Again, for realtime help and response, jump into the chatroom.

Thanks! I didn't really mean it as a complaint, I have moderated forums and understand how underpaid (underappreciated) it is.

I just meant that there were many people needing help as in you all had your hands full.

Thanks again much appreciated :)
