Perhaps, and maybe I'm speaking out about this publicly rather than in private. But maybe we could try to raise funds publicly to get more Razr HD's into each of these Developers' hands. I always like a good contest but, when there is normally only one winner, it excludes all the other Developers that put as much time and effort into their work as anyone else. As far as I'm concerned, "everyone is winner" and can't we all work together to get enough devices out to each one these listed? The Razr HD didn't come out yesterday, and it is not going away tomorrow. But would any members move towards supporting the efforts of contributing to raise funds to get our favorite developers Razr HD devices so that they can expand the Development efforts even further? 

 

If so, I'm in for $100.00 , who else is?

KaChow - I actually have another Nexus 7 for a supporting giveaway, but we've been tapping that resource quite a bit recently.  I was going to wait a month or so to let everyone recoup.

I happen to agree, and I know it is tough, as everyone needs time to recoup. I just see this as the ideal opportunity for those of us with Razr/Maxx HD's. There are a number of Devs that have ROMs out there for us, that do not even have the device. While there are other Devs that have made huge contributions from their work, but you can only contribute as far as you can go, without having the device in your hands. I mean look at the list, again.

I mean if we were to get enough support to raise funds to get our Developers these Razr HD, I think the community would benefit that much more. When it comes to these Devices, and I love to raise enough so that everyone gets brand new, but if it comes at the cost where only 2-3 Developers are able to get devices, then why don't look for cost effective solutions so we can get 6-7 devices instead? I mean there is so much potential that is coming out on our Devices, and putting these devices in more Developers hands, is gonna make everything better, where "everyone wins."

I recall a few devs wanting in on this on some of the first page of posts. TSC and T3T3droid wanted in.

 

Nirto also mentioned in post #15 that he can get them for a lot cheaper than retail. Yes, they are not brand new, but as you mentioned earlier it is a lot more cost effective. 

 

I know it is personal preference when selecting a new phone, but it seems to me that people are preferring other devices to the HD (SGS3/4 and perhaps Moto X when it comes). With most devs choosing other phones, any major development for the HD is unfortunately going to come slow. This competition is a great way to get a dev an HD and promote development for the HD.

I can't agree with you more! Even though I am still working on Aviator HD ROM, progress is very slow and it is very difficult to dev. I have been stealing Trik's desktop trying to find fixes for issues with the ROM

Also thanks ZKK007 for mentioning Nitro's post #15, I would really like it that everyone gets new, but it really is most important that everyone gets the device. While this post is gathering ideas, and laying them out on the table, we should all talk about how the devices are distributed? Do we post a poll for favorite Developer? Favorite ROMs? What ideas does everyone else have? I tend to view this as the membership is raising the funds, when we lock in a price of the phone, it will be known and there will be full disclosure. But, I am just one person with an idea, looking for others that want to make a difference, a win-win situation,

Ok, everyone. I very much appreciate all of your initiatives and all this. It has come down from the top, AFAIK, the from now on, these "organized member giveaways/contests/fund raisers" really need to be run past site ownership first in case he has any special way of organizing the donations. We have a special donation tracker that can be set up for multiple/different fund drives. Please, no one take this wrong way. We all 1000% appreciate this effort and idea. But, site management involvement is necessary for at the LEAST legal reasons. I have already spoke to KaChow privately and am getting him connected to the right folks to get this kind of project rolling. This give away thread that we are talking in is already completed. And, to the best of my knowledge, the site already has another contest brewing for another HD. I will be forwarding the end of this thread to the Admin so he can review all of your excellent ideas and, as I said, I have already informed KaChow what he should do to get this rolling. Thank you all for understanding, but it's important to the site owner that these things are done with a touch more organization and management involvement. I'm sure you can respect that. Closed.
