Lovin the fact people are working on the JB OTA :) I did what i was suppossed to with OTA rootkeeper and still lost root. I havent been unrooted for like over a year and its killing me. Also half the apps i use require root!

Any word on if anyone is working on a new root expoit yet?

Eric

ive heard there are people still looking. unfortunately, it is unlikely a method will be found. Dan, the guy who found most (if not all) of the moto exploits retired. given the bionic is EOL, there likely won't be many people looking

Retired? lol didnt he just do the root on the razr and razr maxx a couple months ago? and didnt he just to the bootloader on the Razr M and such?

If no root this sucks. The only good thing is im due an upgrade in a couple months. I will say that the OTA seems nice on battery. 5 hours on and still at 94% battery with screen taking up 20% so far. This with about as much as the OTA ROM will let me disable.

Yes he did both of those things. Right after the Bootloader unlock he released the HD JB root method and said he was retired from here forward

that's unlikely, as well. you might consider only purchasing unlocked phones going forward

They should make all phones like that. It should be against the law to lock something we pay for that has "open" software installed on it. Now for something like a windows phone i could see it being locked as the software is not "open".

They want to protect consumers from themselves, and from having to replace hardware broken by the consumer.

I updated to JB and kept root with OTA Rootkeeper. Im quite happy with the JB OTA.

When everyone buys Nexuses or dev editions more phones will be offered with unlocked bootloaders.

Id get a Nexus but non removable battery and no microSD slot is kind of a killer for me. Plus at this point, id rather rather a 4.7 or 5" screen at this point as 4.3 is barely big enough.

I was hoping the Motorola X Phone was close to what they rumored. Quad Core, 4.7-5" screen 1080p 2gb ram, micrSD slot, removable battery and Vanilla android.

It's like you can get half in one phone and half in another. Why cant they make a Nexus with replaceable battery and card slot?
