lost 4g after updating roaming

Best Answer jpcalhoun , 18 April 2013 - 02:43 PM

Rooted on stock 4.1.2. Bootloader not unlocked. Dialed *228 to update roaming.

Go to settings>data usage...more>Moble networks and make sure CDMA/LTE is checked...not global or GSM.  I don't think *228 works on 4g/LTE...that's what I've been told.  Reboot phone.  Other than that, and I hate to recommend it, but maybe a factory reset is in order.  No problem regaining root anymore on our XT926.

Not sure what you mean by "updating roaming".  Could you be more specific.  Also, are you rooted and have you unlocked your bootloader?  Are you running a ROM other than stock?

I used to work at a Verizon store and i was told by a superior that dialing *228 on a 4g phone not only doesn't work it ruins the sim card. I have never tried it or seen it happen tho. So if a factory reset doesn't work i would go get u a new sim card.
P.s. if that is the case i would love confirmation on it

I just used Matt's HD 1.20 Utility to fastboot option that puts phone back on to official 4.1.2 System, Kernel, and Radio as well we wipes data. Still no 4g. I am going to try and replace SIM card. Will update when I do.

Yep. Had to replace the SIM card. Didn't know that 4g phones updated roaming automatically after a reboot. Oh well, live and learn.

Maybe it is because I could not get a dial pad to show up so that I could press 2 but simply doing *228 alone did not ruin my sim card.

Might be a good idea to make this more well known!
