Droid Razr 4.1.2 Rooting Problem

Best Answer cmh714 , 20 April 2013 - 04:16 PM

CaeDares, if you have an M, then why did you post in the XT912 forum? This utility doesnt work for an M as you have finally discovered.

The M forum is here: http://www.droidrzr....r-m-xt907-cdma/

Find Matts 1.10 utility for the M and hopefully that should bring you back to life.

Hey guys. To start off, I can't, for the life of me, find the 4.2 Jellybean update, so any link to that would be helpful.

I'm trying to Root my phone so I can do varius crap on it, but for some reason, it is NOT rooting.

Ive tried two different root downloads so far, one from DooMLoRD, and one from another source. They were both told to be for 4.1.2, however.

But when I get into my phone and try to use programs like GameCIH or ROMToolbox, they both inform me that my phone is not rooted, or that a Root Check failed. Basically, they got no root access at all. I do however, have Supeeruser, so I'm confused.

the third one I've tried so far was labelled "motochopper", I ran the adb, and then the run.bat, but it still isn't rooting it, even though it's rebooted my phone and everything.

Any help I could get on this would be fantastic.

Dont know where you got the utilities you have used previously but you didnt go to the right place :)

Now that youve found the right place, the easiest thing would be to use Matts JB utility. Option 1 will wipe the phone and reinstall JB fresh and clean. Option 3 will run Dans Razr Blade exploit to get you root and Option 4 will install Safestrap if thats youre desire.

After Option 1, DO NOT setup your google account. Immediately boot up the phone get through the minimum setup and do Option 3 to root.

Thanks for your reply, but I can't seem to find the exploit you mentioned. Could I possibly get a link?

Edit: Sorry for my stupidity, I didn't take a closer look at Matt's JB Utility, which contains the "options" you mentioned.

Thanks a bunch for this :D

Here's a direct link to Matt's Batman Utility Belt program. Please read thoroughly and follow his directions. Don't forget to hit Thanks/Like for his work, too. His utility saved me quite a few times over the past year.

-sigh- Apparently it's STILL not rooted.

I got into Superuser just to update it and it refuses to update because it doesn't have root access.

I went back to the utility thing and it told me that it doesn't even work for Droid Razr M.

What now?

My bad x: I had no idea.

I got this Razr M like, probably not even a month ago, and it's the first Droid I've had so far, so I have no idea what the difference is between the XT907 or 910, 912, ect. I just thought they were some tiny little differences, my bad on that part.

Thanks again though, for the link. I do appreciate it.

Sorry to be a pain about this, but I tried Matts 1.10, and it started to work until my phone shut down. It says it's waiting for phone's screen to turn back on (and then I hit enter), but the screen is simply not coming back on. I've tried everything. I've held Power+vol down, Power + vol up + vol down, just the power button, vol up + vol down, everything. I even repeated after unplugging it from the PC. When it's plugged into the pc and I try some of these, my PC makes the little noise stating that the phone has reconnected...but nothing happens on the phone. The screen won't come on and it's starting to annoy me. Any suggestions?

I would definitely leave it plugged into the wall at this point. You don't want to let it die while trying to program it, or it may not be able to charge at all. That happened to me before. Were you charged to 100% before starting that utility?

Have you held down the Power and Volume Down for more than 10 seconds? The screen should flicker and reset, but stare at the screen because it flickers fast. If it flickers, then at least you know it's responding and resetting.

Hey guys, having a bit of loopyness on my xt912 vzw . I think I got flash happy now after running Ecl. 4.3 in slot 1 and Ecl. 2.2 in slot 2 I think Ive swapped slots with stock.... and deleted it. Normally I have no problems beating the hell out of this RAZR and if needed drop by ole Matt's for a cup of intelligence. In stock recovery it indicates root, however I cannot get that at all. My ext SD card read 29G so I know there's 3G of partitioning I cannot wax either. Looks like cache or data has been installed in ext. 3 somehow and I have no access to system. Was tipped from as 3.11 to 3.53 and I think I somehow swapped stock to slot 1-2 deleted my backups and got caught inside SS . My apps are showing no app value yet there, no unroot or explorer programs help. Hdlite won't load a file a dB style. I tried side loading stock recovery jb via stock update from ext. Cannot use from adb . And Matt's utility won't achieve root (duh)  failures are no sh in system/bin or su. I'm thinking SS is active with an open slot or hashed stock and I can't get at it. My files keep coming back to me as com. Blah blah , my apps loose there icons and go green regularly and so on. No boot folder, trashed root fs and I'm sure shell is leaking electrons. At this point I'm not worried nor have been about bricking, interestingly noatter what I do to this even things I know are bad but I just want to tinker the little bugger comes right back.  Soy question is how can I wipe everything, everything, shell, OS, backups all, dead phone style? I know once I get OS gone I'm in business again. But no access no root no luck ? I'm so corrupted I just want to get a clean shell stock everything . Spyder is not spyder anymore and although it is still downloading at 2.5mbps fantastic always in every way I'm feeling like I'm in a fart bubble with Google goggles on. Sorry for the long wind.
