I agree. This thread needs a video with someone dropping a phone in a bucket of water. If it's "water proof", then it shouldn't even turn off, right?

I've done and I'm sure others have as well. I used a tall glass, not a bucket though. The buttons were funky for an hour or so till it dried, but otherwise it was fine. That being said... I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING THIS. IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.

Dropped mine in the lake and snatched it out quickly. It was fully submerged for about two seconds. I shook it off and popped it on my palm a few times to get the water out of the usb/hdmi and headphone ports. Right away it took off working like nothing happened. Freaked out nonetheless, I powered it down, ejected the sim and memory cards and let it spend the night in a bed of rice. After that it was on the charger with navigation and wifi tether running while playing a video to build as much heat in it as possible to get the rest of any remaining moisture out. It's been fine since, save for a bit of concrete rash on the lower bezel.

uhh no thanks.. even w/ insurance you have to pay a deductible...... to get a new device and return the old device in most cases.

That's just because of the salt. Notice that every waterproof test is with fresh water. I've fully submerged mine in a pitcher of water with the phone on. Took it out, wiped it off, made a call.

I've submerged mine, and also put it under a faucet for a solid minute. Speaker sounded bad till it dried out, and the power/volume keys freaked out till they dried as well. Otherwise, worked perfectly.

theres no way im putting my maxx in water on purpose lol! im glad they are surviving, but even in the manual it says you will ruin your phone if you take it in the shower with you or submerge it lol!

i think its silly that waterproof phones arent the norm yet. my casio commando was advertised as waterproof up to so many meters.. i never tested it, but i did set it on the shelf in the shower to listen to music while i was in there lol! one of the key features was the rubber gaskets on the doors.. making a phone water proof shouldnt be all that hard these days, and probably cost effective in the long run!

i do like that they put the nano coating on the inside of these.. just dont want to test it!!!
