Now that the Retail M has an unlocked bootloader and TWRP can install, I'm finally able to get some flashable zips going! My first step will be to deodex this baby.

I searched the forum and found this topic:

But it seemed geared to developers wanting to create a new ROM. I don't want to do that, I just want to deodex the stock ROM for now. I also got a little leery that the download was taken down.

So, question 1: where is the deodex zip for the retail M?

Question 2: if a ROM or zip says it's designed to be flashed via safestrap, does that mean it should also be able to be flashed in TWRP?

I am rooted with the unlocked bootloader, TWRP installed, running the latest stock Android 4.1.2 (System Version 98.15.66.XT907.Verizon.en.US)

Thanks, everyone!

I searched and found Android Kitchen on XDA, but it looks like it's Linux Only. Any Windows versions out there you know of?

Run it in Cygwin. Cygwin is an emulated Linux Terminal for Windows.(Google it)

You can use the tool and learn how to de-odex (I need to stop being lazy and learn this too), or you can search a little a find a de-odexed ROM.  I know there is atleast one running around, it will just take a little digging.  I'm not going to post the link because of some recent events, but trust me, it's out there. ;)

Which one did you grab?

I may be able to whip one up really quick.

I'd rather not install Cygwin on my work computer! I'll just have to wait and put it on my wife's Mac this weekend. Thanks!

All you are looking for is a zip with a deodexed version of verizons latest release?

If so, let me finish building this ROM from source and I will throw it in kitchen and build on for you real quick.  Want root too? or just deodexed?

If its already in a zip file than it is really easy to do.  Just follow all the steps in Android Kitchen.  I am not going to mess with someone elses ROM than link it for many reasons.  However,  I am willing to help you through the process if you are interested.  And if you are interested in just a deodexed stock base, I can make one of those tonight.

Ha, if i do too much too it, than it will turn into DeadRage.  So i will deodex, root, busybox, and init.d, than leave the rest for you to make whatever it is you want. :)
