Stuck in Setup Wizard

Best Answer Victimssun , 25 April 2013 - 04:56 PM

I got it! My issue was not being able to get into anything else (especially Root App Delete to refreeze Setup Wizard). So I opened it on my phone, used that crazy magic beam feature by touching the phones together. It opened, froze the Setup Wizard, and Boom! I do appreciate all your help though.

My wife's phone was completely stock. Did the 4.1.2 update. Rooted, froze some bloat (including verizon's backup utilities and setup wizards). Now she was missing the majority of her contacts. She doesn't use Google to store her contacts so they've always been in the verizon backup thing, or on the card. I went back and unfroze all verizon's apps and the Setup Wizard. Restarted the phone and now the Setup Wizard comes right up upon starting. I can hit next once, then it gets stuck on the Verizon Backup Utility screen and there's not Next or Skip button. I can get to the settings, an email came in and I could get to gmail. But I can't get OUT of the wizard, to the home screen, to any other app. Can anyone help me out? Thanks. Usually pretty good with this stuff, but this one has me stumped. And complete restore would be my LAST option, so my wife doesn't kill me :) Thanks

I appreciate and keep them coming! Because that didn't work.. It's crazy. From the lock screen I can pick Phone, Texting, and Camera and it works. I hit home and it gives me that stupid screen. Wish I could just go in and freeze it again.

i just found this it says you can skip the wizard and i dont think it would hurt to try lol....

I'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure if you go to emergency dial from the setup screen, then type in *#TESTMODE it should activate the capacitive buttons so you can hit home and get to the launcher. Hope that helps!

...and don't freeze your Verizon Backup Assistant app, this will remove the Verizon contacts.

This makes sense. Unfreezing it didn't seem to bring them back.. That system seems a little wonky. I'm making sure she adds all of her contacts to google.. Thanks again guys.

I think with Verizon backup you can access the contacts online. I could be wrong though I've never used it

Yea, I checked and they didn't exist online.. Idk what's going on. She's been using it for like 6 years now, so maybe the system changes bunked it up. Idk.

you could factory reset if you don't mind losing the data... would probably fix the issue

And the new tapatalk app didn't show all the replies... Derp. Congrats on fixing it.
