I'm a new member, and still new at this, so I'll try to include all the pertinent information.

Tried using the LinuxMacUtility1-81 today to flash back to ICS on my Droid Razr Maxx XT912 running 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, during an "erasing cache" step there was a utility failure.  Since that point my phone is only able to boot into the stock recovery, accessing AP Fast Boot, but cannot complete a boot cycle.

As I said, I'm a Mac user, so if anyone knows a simple way to flash over the OS via USB, or can point me to a flashable rom that can go on the SD card I would appreciate it.

Unfortunately you cannot flash back to ICS from JB. You will need Matts newest utility which I think is version 1.90 to reflash JB.

Currently trying the tool now.  Thanks for the tip.

Whether I select option 1 or 2, this is my result.

[1] Flash Official Jellybean Firmware (Wipe Data)
[2] Flash Official Jellybean Firmware (No Data Wipe)
[3] RAZR Blade 4.1.2 Root by Djrbliss
[4] Install Safestrap 3 App by Hashcode

press any key to exit

64 bit Mac System
[*] Simple Razr Restore
[*] Linux/Mac Version
[*]
[*] Before continuing, ensure your Razr is in the
[*] 'AP Fastboot' mode and connected via USB.
[*]--- Also press the keys after the screen flashes back on when asked---
[*]
[*] WARNING: Do not do this at LOW BATTERY! You have been warned!
[*]
[*] Get Ready To Break Out Your Sudo
[*] Press Enter To Continue

< waiting for device >

That is as far as I can seem to get in this process.  It freezes up each time after I attempt to pass entry of the SUDO password.  I am aware it will be the administrator password of my computer.  Would this stop happening if I were attempting this on a Windows machine?

I know this post is more than two weeks old, and you may have already found a solution by now, but if you are still looking then my experiences may help.

Since I performed this on Windows, you will need Windows to repeat these steps. Google: "Mac Basics: Using Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp". Perhaps, using this method to run Windows may allow you to repeat these steps.

You have mentioned that you are still able to boot into AP Fastboot, then you may still have the ability to restore your phone. If you have lost ALL power before restoration, then you will need to create a makeshift factory cable or buy one. To create a makeshift factory cable, find or buy an expendable data cable for your phone (one with an easy-to-disassemble micro USB connector, preferably) and solder a bridge wire from the 5V pin to the MODE pin (Google: "micro USB pinout" for pin layout). The MODE pin is sometimes grounded with a black wire - remove before soldering on the bridge wire. This will provide power to the phone via USB connection. NOTE: The only drawback with the makeshift option is the micro USB connector end may not have a MODE pin slot to solder to (I went through two cables searching for one, but the third was a higher end data cable that provided the solder slot for the MODE pin).

If you have partial power before restoration, from what I have gathered (although I was unsuccessful when I tried, but others have confirmed success), you may try loading BP Tools from the Boot Mode Selection Menu (to obtain a sufficient charge to perform a restoration procedure).

Once enough battery power has been obtained, download a complete Android/Verizon OS version from

. I used "6.5.1-73_DHD-11_M1-2".

Download and install the latest xt912 Razr USB/software drivers.

Download and install RSD Lite 6.1.4.

     Start RSD Lite.

Power the phone into AP Fastbood Mode. This can be done by powering into Boot Selection Mode and selecting AP Fastboot.

Attach the appropriate data cable to your computer and your phone. Depending on your phone's state and choices made pertaining to that state, you will be using the standard data cable that came with the phone, a purchased factory cable, or a makeshift factory cable.

Once the computer and phone have been connected, look at the list of connected devices in the RSD Lite application and verify the top line displays "Fastboot CDMA_SPYDER S" in the Model column. It may be possible other names appear, but this is what I display.

In the RSD Lite program, press the "ellipsis" button, next to Filename box, and select the downloaded OS from the location you have specified.

Press "Decompress And Start Flashing". This has failed on me once when I tried, because I had low power when flashing (and I was trying another OS not listed above). I would not know of the outcome if there was power failure during the flash process, although I would suspect nothing, but don't accept that assumption as fact. Additionally, I noticed I did not have "Fastboot CDMA_SPYDER S" in the model column, but some other display name. Once I had attached the makeshift factory cable (and wit a fully dead battery at the time) the process worked successfully.

-------------------End Instructions-------------------

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

To get to Boot Selection Mode (from power off), hold down both volume up and volume down and press the power button until Boot Selection Mode starts.

To perform a hardware power reset, hold down volume down and press the power button for approximately ten seconds.

To access Stock Recovery, boot into Boot Selection Mode, select Recovery, wait until android hazard icon appears and simultaneously press both volume buttons.

In theory, this method could be used to recover from nearly any type of software corruption or user error, with the exception of a corrupted bootloader or the eeprom chips (internal storage) being damaged.

Depending on the OS version chosen, you may need to perform a long series of OTA updates. If you decide to root, perform some research of which OTA version is best to root. Good luck and I hope this method works for you as it did for me.

(If I have provided any misinformation or omitted information, please feel free to add to- or correct the issue in a subsequent post. Thanks!)

download a complete Android/Verizon OS version from here. I used "6.5.1-73_DHD-11_M1-2".

Just to clarify, if the op was on 4.1.2, the version you used will NOT work. You cannot go back to ICS from JB as was already mentioned.

I realize that you were merely stating what your procedure was, and you did a superb job in doing so (keep up the good work!) I just don't want to see a n00b come across this and not understand that you cannot flash back a version. There is a method to do so, but you have to have procedures in place prior to installing JB for the first time.

Again great tutorial!
