I totally appreciate your "bigger picture" view here...

 

Couple things... How do you propose to advertise this upcoming "class" should we like to do something like that?? I think with everyone's real life commitments it would be difficult to get everyone on at the same time. Don't you think a thread with complete instructions on how to do well.. just about anything would be more appropriate to get your message across to the masses. That way someone today can take advantage but also the guy that doesn't know he even wants to start themeing/deving until 6 months from now would still be able to take advantage of the same thread??

Thank you, and I do not view anything as negative, if there was no conflict than it would be difficult to have a resolution.

 

I do think that something like this is possible, adults go to school everyday, obviously except maybe that 16 year old that is out there...   : Isn't tied down to a spouse or children. I think for something like this to work it has to be highly interactive, I think that is the biggest problem that people face when they consider doing something that is out of their realm, they try it, they fail, they cry about it, are hurt or just, don't say anything and nothing happens further. Interaction I think is essential which requires a computer that has abilitiy with software to monitor all the users activity, make changes, or corrections, instant answers. I'll look into a program I know of and post it tomorrow, but I think that is where the value is, it comes from the interaction, student and teacher, with experience. I certainly think it can be pulled off, it depends on the project too. If it is designing boot logos, that can be an easy class. If you are bring down "soup to nuts" a ROM, of course there is going to be more there, if this is something that could lead towards future success, there could be programs such as PhotoShop 101, or SQlite 101, or Hashcode 101   . There is just a lot of possibilities, and believe when people learn that there is actually a teacher than teach this type of stuff through interaction in the comfort of the home, this will catch on.

 I don't know of too many other sources, but I'm sure there plenty of people in the community here that either know this source or know of one that is more user friendly and of course more cost effective. But, just to say again, this would be the most effecient way to do an online course, whether 30, 50, 100 people or what the demand is.

Thread tutorials and youtube videos are how most people learn things these days. If they can't find free information of one forum they will simple migrate to another.
